Horizon Falcon 80W Vape Pen Review – These days, when the vaping industry seems on the precipice of disaster, there’s something comforting about a good, old-fashioned tube mod. Or pen mod. Or stick mod. Or whatever it is that the kids are calling them these days. Even though there’s nothing really connecting this advanced pen to the “old days” other than the shape, we hand it to HorizonTech for dipping back into the past and marrying classic style with modern functionality.
Enough traveling down memory lane… let’s get to the specs.
Official Manufacturer Description
The Horizon FALCON PEN 80W Starter Kit is a comprehensive vape pen, implementing a single high amp 18650 battery, a 0.49″ OLED Display Screen, and is paired with the advanced Horizon Falcon King Sub-Ohm Tank. It works by creating an ideal vaping kit to generate delicious vaporous clouds.
Designed in a slim vape pen style, the Falcon Vape Pen 80W Kit can attain wattages up to 80W with the single high amp 18650 battery within. Accessible from the bottom, a threaded battery cap keeps the installed battery safely within the secure confines of the vape pen.
Vaping data and relevant information is relayed via a 0.49″ OLED Display Screen, such as puffs, battery life, and output information and helps the user determine the state of the vape.
Furthermore, the Falcon Vape Pen Starter Kit is paired with the Falcon King Sub-Ohm Tank, sharing compatible with 8 different types of coils from Horizon Tech to suit the user.

Alright, this should probably be the shortest section of the review… because it’s a shiny tube! My stainless-steel test model is completely free of visual adornment, save for the hexagonal fire button, and the similarly polygonal display and control button section. Sure, there’s some mild grooves in the 510 connection and bottom-loading battery cap, but the Falcon Vape Pen is about as mechanical mod-like as it gets in 2019.
Initial Impressions and Aesthetics
That said, the brushed stainless is flawless, with no visible rough edges or burring and the most subtle tapered middle on record. In fact, if you don’t run your fingers down the sides, you might not even notice there’s a slight inward bend to begin with.
The fire key and control buttons are adequately click-y, with a shallow, responsive throw that feels better the more you use it. My only complaint here is that the buttons feel a little plastic-like, even if they’re supposedly zinc alloy, and they have a slight bit of rattle to boot. It’s nothing dramatic or off-putting, but it’s there and should be noted.
If you read Spinfuel VAPE on the regular, you know that we’re a little biased [ED: I prefer “honest to a fault”] toward more advanced devices. But you know what? We found ourselves really digging the simple pleasure of a wattage-only pen vape. Maybe not enough to give up our SMOK MAG P3s, (read the review) but certainly enough to give the Falcon Vape Pen some real estate in our collections.
Vaping the Horizon Falcon Pen Kit
For starters, temperature control vaping is a luxury few mods get right, and one that few vapers really seem to enjoy these days (if we’re wrong, let us know on our social media pages). So, it was nice to not have to tinker and prod the Falcon Vape Pen other than the requisite wattage adjustments. Instead, we just juiced the tank and enjoyed straightforward flavor and vapor.
The top positioned fire button is placed perfectly — high enough for a natural thumb OR trigger grip, but far enough away from the tank connection to avoid any excess heat. In fact, even with a lack of visible venting, the single-18650 Falcon Pen barely gave off any heat at all. Sure, 80 watts isn’t exactly “high” by modern standards, but we appreciated how cool the device remained, even under heavy use.
Fast Ramp Up
Instead, the Falcon Pen ramped almost immediately, climbing smoothly all the way to its 80-watt limit. We didn’t have any hiccups or misfires and started to remember that this whole “vaping thing” doesn’t need to be all THAT advanced after all. Hell, even the battery life — on a single 18650 cell — is decent, giving a solid 3-4 hours before needing a boost.
Our ONLY complaint? The screw-on bottom battery cap seemed a little cheap, and the threading wasn’t up to the same design quality as the rest of the kit. It was fine, to be sure, but the thin metal and slight battery rattle was distracting during an otherwise flawless test session.
Pros:
- Simple, no-nonsense design and form factor
- Well-placed fire key and adjustment buttons
- The finest sub-ohm tank in the land is in the box
Cons:
- Battery cap is a little cheap
- Buttons have a slight rattle
- Pretty uninteresting if you like visual flair
Spinfuel VAPE Score
To be 100% honest, as always, the Horizon Falcon 80W Vape Pen isn’t going to be my everyday rig. But I’ll be damned if this wattage-only, surprisingly powerful and accurate tube mod didn’t find a place in our hearts.
Maybe it’s the retro design, or how effortlessly this tube marries old design with new performance, but there’s a simple beauty to this device that we can’t recommend enough. It’s not perfect, but if you’re a vaper looking to cut the noise and just enjoy the ride, take a close look at this unassuming gem.
I would love to give the Falcon 80W Vape Pen a top grade, but the cheap-ish bottom battery screw-on cap, and the slight rattle prevents to do so. A B+ will have to do this time out, despite our A+ grade of the Falcon Sub-Ohm Tank a ways back.
