Asmodus has been busy creating new devices in an effort to provide vapers with the latest trends and technology. First came the Asmodus Luna Squonk Mod, a single 18650 mechanical squonker. Although the Luna was a big hit, there were some things missing for most vapers. While I loved it, the fact that it was mechanical, and held only a single 18650 battery, would scare some vapers away from its charms.
Now, Asmodus is about to release the Pumper 18 Squonk Mod, a single 18650 regulated squonk mod. Like the Luna, the Pumper 18 will be a limited edition device.
The Asmodus Pumper 18 Squonk Mod is the very first Asmodus regulated squonk mod, and it does not disappoint. Featuring a variable wattage output from 5-80W, a low voltage protection, a maximum 27A output, and a maximum output voltage of 45A, the Pumper 18 has plenty of protection, and plenty of power to push a decent atomizer.
The Asmodus Pumper 18 Squonk Mod
Crafted with a stabilized wood chassis and an aluminum frame, the Asmodus Pumper 18 feels great in the hand, and at just 82mm tall, 24.5mm wide, and 46mm deep, it’s not too large for an 18650 regulated squonk mod.
The Pumper 18 also sports a new chipset, the GX-80-HUT. The GX-80-HUT is a variable wattage chipset that features an intuitive OLED screen display. The display presents an output wattage, atomizer resistance, current battery life, and a puff counter.
The Pumper 18 has the usual safety protections, such as reverse polarity protection, short circuit protection, low voltage protection, and an overheat protection.
The fire button, which has the Asmodus Crown logo, is situated at the top of the mod, at the same height as your atomizer. This is not uncommon for squonk mods, but I prefer my fire button closer to the bottom, though this is a subjective opinion. Just below the fire button are the up and down buttons, also in the same vertical row, then the OLED display, and a USB port. This USB port is for firmware upgrades only, and cannot be used for charging the battery.
The Asmodus Pumper 18 Features
One of the most appealing features, as well as one of the problems, is the stabilized wood chassis. Each Pumper 18 Squonk Mod will be unique, having its own unique wood grain pattern. However, because stabilized wood has a very complex manufacturing process, this is one of the reasons the Pumper 18 will be a limited edition run. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
The Pumper 18 is a regulated mod, offering up to 80W of power, but it has no temperature control (TC) settings. This is a common situation with most squonk mods. If you want a squonk mod with TC, you’re looking at a much higher price. For 99% of vapers, 80W on a single 18650 is plenty of power.

Performance
I attached my Asmodus C4 LP RDA to the Pumper 18 Squonk Mod, and wicked it with Cotton Bacon Prime and the Dead Rabbit SQ RDA. Both RDAs perform extremely well on the Pumper 18. Despite being a single 18650, the 80W of available power delivered a very good vape.
I found the fire button on the top to be a little strange at first, but with a week of use, I grew accustomed to its placement. While I still believe that a thumb fire button is the most comfortable, the button placement on the Pumper 18 didn’t cause any pain or discomfort. It just took some getting used to.
With its stabilized wood chassis, aluminum frame, and the beautiful OLED screen, the Pumper 18 is a good-looking mod, and its ergonomic design provides a very comfortable experience in the hand. The squonk bottle holds 7mL of e-liquid, which is plenty of liquid for several hours of vaping.
The Pumper 18 works best with coils that have a resistance between 0.15-0.35ohms. I used a 0.22ohm Alien coil with my C4 LP RDA, and enjoyed a long, satisfying vape, with an abundance of vapor and flavor. The battery life, on a single 18650, with a 0.22-ohm coil, was nearly 5 hours, though this will vary depending on the coils you use, and how often you vape.
Pumper vs. Ultroner x Asmodus Luna
Last year Asmodus released the Luna, a single 18650 mechanical squonk mod with the same stabilized wood chassis. The Luna was a big hit, with only one problem; it was mechanical. With its lack of protections, the Luna put off a lot of vapers, even many seasoned vapers that prefer mechanical mods. After all, a mechanical squonk mod is another ballgame when compared to a tube mechanical mod.
The Pumper 18 provides all the protections and the regulated power output that the Luna did not. The form factor of both mods is nearly identical. For all intents and purposes, the Pumper 18 is simply the regulated version of the Luna. Asmodus seems to agree, because they mention it in their own product description of the Pumper 18. Which is better? The Pumper 18, by a long shot.

Conclusion
The Asmodus Pumper 18 Squonk Mod is a fine device that, like the Luna, will sell out quickly. Asmodus has done an excellent job, once again, in providing vapers with a high-quality, high-performance regulated squonk mod. If you’re a fan of squonking, and you don’t want to mess with a mechanical mod, the Pumper 18 Squonk Mod is probably the squonker you’ve been waiting for.
If you don’t get a Pumper 18 before they’re gone, and you’re still looking for a quality regulated squonk mod, be sure to check out the Vandy Vape Pulse 80W BF Mod. A dual-18650, 80W regulated squonker, the Pulse is a fine device for squonking at home or on the go.
