Odin by Dovpo – A DNA250C Box Mod Review

The Dovpo Odin Box Mod with Evolv’s DNA250C is the first of many upcoming releases from Dovpo using the DNA250C chipset. What’s more, the Odin is a collaboration between Dovpo, The Vaping Bogan, and Vaperz Cloud. I imagine it’s a big deal. The question is, is it a worthy DNA250C device, and what does it bring to the table that hasn’t been done before?

Today we’ll review the Odin by Dovpo, The Vaping Bogan, and Vaperz Cloud to determine just how good it is. I’ve spent the better part of two weeks with it, and it has easily become my favorite device with the Evolv DNA250C chipset.

INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW

There is little doubt that Evolv is one of the premier chip manufacturers in the vaping industry. When it comes to temperature control, it is, in my opinion, the undisputed king.

Evolv’s DNA250C chipset, which powers the Odin by Dovpo, is the latest iteration of their highly acclaimed DNA series, following the DNA75C. The DNA250C provides an amazing user experience, with full customization via Evolv’s EScribe software. The Odin represents a powerful and elegant platform for this magnificent chipset.

The Odin DNA250C uses dual 21700 batteries, an uncommon battery type for many mods, even in 2020. This allows for a much longer battery life than with dual 18650 mods.

The design is unique and has the flavor of both The Vaping Bogan and Vaperz Cloud. The body of the Odin is made of aluminum, making it surprisingly lightweight for its size. The curves of the chassis make it comfortable to hold and use.

Let’s delve into the features and my personal experience with the Odin DNA250C.

REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE

The Odin DNA250C excels in performance, which is expected from a DNA250C device. I tested it extensively with various atomizers, including the Valhalla V2 RDA, the Zeus X RTA, and the Blotto RTA. All of them performed flawlessly on the Odin.

The device fired instantly every time, delivering consistent power output. The accuracy of the wattage mode is spot on, providing a satisfying vape experience whether you prefer a direct lung hit or a more restricted draw.

The screen is bright and clear, displaying all necessary information, and the navigation through the menu system is intuitive and easy to understand. The replay mode, which I’ll discuss shortly, is an excellent feature that ensures a consistent vape every time.

Temperature Control

As mentioned earlier, Evolv is the undisputed king of temperature control. The DNA250C chipset inside the Odin lives up to this reputation. Whether you’re using Stainless Steel, Titanium, or Nickel coils, the temperature control is precise and consistent. I primarily used Stainless Steel 316L coils for my TC testing, and the experience was sublime.

The vapor production was consistent, and dry hits were a thing of the past. The ability to fine-tune the TC settings using EScribe makes it an even more versatile device for TC enthusiasts. For vapers who have not yet experienced true temperature control, the Odin is an excellent device to start with.

DNA250C Chipset and Escribe

The DNA250C chipset is a marvel of engineering. It offers a plethora of features, including replay mode, boost mode, preheat, and extensive customization options via the EScribe software. The replay mode is particularly impressive, allowing you to capture a perfect puff and replicate it consistently.

The EScribe software, while initially daunting for some, offers unparalleled control over your device. You can customize nearly every aspect of the mod, from the screen layout to the coil material coefficients. This level of customization ensures that the Odin DNA250C can be tailored to suit any vaper’s preferences.

Battery Life

The use of dual 21700 batteries is a game-changer for battery life. With my usual vaping habits (around 70-80W), I easily got a full day, sometimes a day and a half, of use out of the Odin DNA250C. This is significantly better than most dual 18650 mods, which typically last me about 12-14 hours.

The onboard charging, while not recommended as a primary charging method for removable batteries, is efficient at 2A. However, I always advise using an external charger for safety and to prolong the life of your batteries.

Design, Build Quality, and Ergonomics

The Odin DNA250C boasts a solid build quality. The aluminum alloy construction feels robust yet lightweight. The finish is smooth and resists fingerprints fairly well, though it can pick up some smudges over time.

The design is sleek and modern, with subtle curves that make it comfortable to hold. The firing button is tactile and clicky, providing satisfying feedback. The adjustment buttons are also well-placed and responsive. The 510 connector is centered and robust, accommodating atomizers up to 30mm without overhang, which is a huge plus for those who prefer larger RDAs and RTAs.

The battery door is magnetic and fits securely, with no wiggling or rattling. The overall aesthetic is one of understated elegance, making it suitable for both casual and formal settings.
