There are some things that make the Joyetech ATOPACK PENGUIN SEAll-In-One an appealing device. For starters, it’s one of the best designed vape devices I’ve seen in a long time. It feels good in the hand, its shape is unique and ergonomic, and the colors available are wonderful. It makes for a very attractive, even classy, starter kit. What’s more, the Joyetech ATOPACK PENGUIN SE performs very well with good e-liquid and e-juice flavors.
The original ATOPACK PENGUIN (not the SE version) was a hot item a few months ago. It sold very well for good reason. It’s a low-cost, easy to use, highly portable, and very attractive device that works for just about anyone that wants a small, sleek and reliable vape mod.
The SE version adds a window to the ATOPACK for viewing the remaining e-liquid. This is the only major change from the original ATOPACK PENGUIN. I prefer the SE version because a window is just about mandatory in any AIO device. There are some downsides to the ATOPACK PENGUIN SE, but they are minor. For the money, the Joyetech ATOPACK PENGUIN SE is an excellent buy.
What is the ATOPACK PENGUIN SE?
The Joyetech ATOPACK PENGUIN SE is an All-In-One, or AIO, vape device. Meaning that it has an internal tank, an internal battery, and a single firing button. The ATOPACK PENGUIN SE comes with a 2000mAh integrated battery, and an 8.8mL capacity atomizer. The larger capacity is because the coils are considerably large. The ATOPACK uses JVIC (Juice Vertical Injection Coil) coils. There is a 0.6Ω (ohm) MTL coil and a 0.25Ω DL coil. Both coils come in the box.
The ATOPACK Penguin SE measures 27mm x 52mm x 102.5mm and weighs 139.5g. The device is built with PETG, a plastic polymer found in many consumer devices, and silica gel. This material keeps the device light and relatively durable. The Penguin SE is available in White, Silver, Black, Red, and Blue.

How Does the ATOPACK PENGUIN SE Operate?
The Joyetech ATOPACK PENGUIN SE is extremely easy to use. The atomizer (tank and coil) snaps into the mod, held by strong magnets. The coils are inserted into the atomizer by pushing them in. They can only go in one way, so there’s no worry about incorrect installation. To fill the atomizer, you simply open a rubber plug on the bottom of the atomizer, and fill with a e-liquid bottle with a needle or dropper tip.
Turning the device On/Off is done by 5 clicks of the firing button. Clicking the fire button 5 times in 2 seconds will turn it on, and 5 clicks in 2 seconds will turn it off. Pressing the fire button to vape will light up the 5 LED lights above the button, showing how much battery life is left. All five LEDs indicate a full charge, while one LED light means that it’s almost time to recharge.
The ATOPACK Penguin SE is charged by connecting it to a computer or wall adapter (not included) via the micro USB cable that comes in the box. When fully charged, the LED lights will go out.
The ATOPACK Penguin SE in Action
I’ve used the Penguin SE for a little more than a week, and it quickly became my go-to AIO device for running errands and taking short trips where I don’t want to carry a larger mod with a sub-ohm tank.
The fire button is perfect, just the right amount of pressure and response. The size and shape of the ATOPACK Penguin SE feels great in the hand, and the weight is just right; not too heavy, not too light. The mouthpiece/drip tip is permanently affixed to the atomizer, but that’s okay because it’s a very comfortable drip tip, and I feel no need to swap it out.
The ATOPACK is an exceptional flavor device. Both coils deliver excellent flavor, but the 0.25Ω DL coil is far superior, producing much more flavor, and much more vapor than the 0.6Ω MTL coil. Still, I’ve been using a 70VG/30PG e-liquid in the 0.6Ω coil, and I’m impressed by the amount of vapor it produces and the amount of flavor delivered.
One caveat, though. When using a Max VG e-liquid, like my own custom blends, the 0.6Ω coil can take a moment or two to wick properly. It’s better to use a 70VG or 60VG e-juice with this coil. The 0.25Ω coil has no problem with Max VG, nor with 70VG or 60VG.
