The WISMEC Reuleaux RX GEN3 TC Starter Kit includes the third generation of the popular Reuleaux box mod, and is paired with the WISMEC GNOME Tank. The Kit version (mod+tank) is available now at Element Vape for $69.95. Because this is a new WISMEC and Jaybo collaboration, we’re expecting our in-depth review to be a positive one.
Capable of a maximum output of 300 watts, the Gen3 matches the same output of the prior FOUR cell Reuleaux RX300. While the RX300 offered lots of power and a polished look, its sheer size turned many Vapers off. The requirement of that 4th 18650 battery didn’t win over many High Wattage Vapers. With today’s RX GEN3, WISMEC is calling the new mod the smallest triple 18650 mod available. And they are right. In fact, upon unboxing the Reuleaux RX Gen3 the very first impression it makes is how much smaller it is than previous models. The photo below gives you a good idea of the size differential.
But size isn’t the only improvement to the renovated chassis. The RX GEN3 300W Box Mod does retain many of the traditional design elements of previous Reuleaux bodies, but there have been significant modernization tweaks that give the new Reuleaux a level of sophistication. New colors, a larger display, and the word “WISMEC” carved into both sides of the mod is, I find, very appealing to my taste sensibilities.
Reviewers were sent the brown and black model, though the Reuleaux RX Gen3 is available in Grey/Black, Green/Black, Red/Black, and Black.
A New Display for the Reuleaux RX Gen3
The body update is matched by a revision with the new 1.3 Inch OLED screen, which offers a larger display that provides more information in an organized, easy to understand layout. This new display and its layout means an easier menu operation by the user.
What Once Took Four Now Takes Three
The Reuleaux RX GEN3 reverts to the triple 18650 battery bank, however, instead of removing the entire back magnetic battery panel door, the Gen3 is opened by a hinged battery door under the body for quick access and a simple drop-in technique. No more fiddling with getting the batteries properly installed. I never liked this method of installing batteries, so the bottom battery door is an important improvement for me.
The WISMEC RX Chipset
With Wismec’s much-lauded chipset, the RX GEN 3 not only fires up to a that huge 300-watt level, but also includes an all-inclusive temperature control system with native support for Ni200 Pure Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless Steel heating elements.
While in temperature control mode, The Reuleaux RX Gen3 allows for adjustable TCR that for extended compatibility and fine tuning of the users vape experience. As is the case with most WISMEC mods, the chipset is upgradeable through firmware upgrades with the included USB port/cable. This is certainly a welcome feature, though it’s been my experience that unless there is a firmware update within the first month of release, most mods are replaced by newer models before the next upgrade is needed.
Normally, Spinfuel VAPE never suggests recharging cells in the unit itself, and we are always suggesting an external Nitecore charger. However, in this particular case, with the sophisticated battery protection system in WISMEC mods, the 2A Max Charging capabilities allows for its three batteries to be charged very quickly, at least that is our hope, and we’ll make sure to try this out.
Reuleaux RX Gen3 Kit and GNOME
Of all the tanks offered by WISMEC, the Reuleaux RX Gen3 has been paired with the new GNOME Sub-Ohm Tank. The new GNOME Sub-Ohm Tank offers a maximum juice capacity of 4mL (and 2mL as well), plus retractable sliding top-fill system, a stealth dual bottom airflow control. And where would WISMEC be without a new round of coils. In this case, the new GNOME tank uses the WM Coil Series. (seems like all manufactures create new coil “series” for all new tanks.)
The WM Coil Series has a flagship coil that is a 0.2ohm WM03 Triple Head, with a wattage range of 40 to 130W, along with a 0.15ohm WM02 Dual Head rated for 30 to 70W. We have ordered additional replacement coils for the review period so we can take the GNOME through some harsh vaping periods.
The Upcoming Reuleaux RX Gen3 Review
I admit that the 3x cell, triangular body shape of the Reuleaux series has dulled my appreciation for this WISMEC Flagship mod. Having said that, the new Reuleaux RX Gen3 has reawaken some of the excitement I felt the first time I handled a 3-cell Reuleaux. This is a handsome mod, and the size is going to be a major selling point. If the Gen3 passes muster, we’ll be back with, we hope, a high scoring review.
