Sporting a very similar chassis design of its bigger brother, the beautiful SMOK X-PRIV Starter Kit (reviewed here), the SMOK X-PRIV Baby Starter Kit offers all the internal features with much less power and a decent 2300mAh internal battery. At just over $50 at Element Vape, this X-PRIV Baby includes the TFV12 Big Baby Prince (6mL juice capacity). All in all, for Vapers that don’t mind internal batteries and loved the look of the larger X-PRIV and Full-Size Prince Sub-Ohm Tank, the X-PRIV Baby is the best value SMOK has going on right now. At least that’s how this reviewer sees it. Let’s dig deeper and find out if the X-PRIV Baby Starter Kit is right for you.
The SMOK X-PRIV Baby maxes out at 80 watts, plenty of power to push out optimal vaping with the included Big Baby Prince and its two low-wattage TFV8 Baby Coils, the 0.4-ohm TF8 Baby-Q2, rated for 40-80W, with an optimal vape at 55-60W. During the review process I was actually surprised at just how good the Q2 coils performed with this sophisticated mod.
The SMOK X-PRIV Baby utilizes a large hi-res 2-inch display, with full-color HD resolution. The X-PRIV Baby’s 2300mAh internal battery delivers about 5 hours of moderate vaping while using the Big Baby Prince and the Q2 coils. Requiring less power, the Q2 will allow uses more vape time and consume less e-juice than a larger full-size Prince and coils requiring much more power.
In addition to outputting the full 80W, the X-PRIV Baby includes the latest chipset for a solid and accurate temperature control mode. However, in order to take advantage of temperature control/sensing the user will need to purchase the V8 Baby RBA and build coils with Ni 200, Titanium, or Stainless Steel. All the prebuild coils listed below use a heating element made with Kanthal, which is not suitable for Temperature Control Systems.
Note* While the X-PRIV Baby includes the Big Baby Prince, these coils can also be used with the sub-ohm tank to further customize the vape experience. I would definitely recommend trying out the new Baby Strip, 60-80W range, and the Baby Mesh for intense flavor.

Bottom Line
For Vapers that don’t need a high-wattage mod or demanding sub-ohm tanks, the X-PRIV Baby Starter Kit has a lot to offer. It’s one of the best-looking kits made by SMOK, and has worked faithfully for me since I received almost 3 months ago.
There are literally hundreds of vape starter kits on the market and making the right decision on which one to spend your hard-earned money can be confusing and difficult. Make the wrong decision and you’ve wasted your money. Make the right decision and you’re a happy Vaper. So, is the X-PRIV Baby Starter Kit right for you? Ask yourself these questions and your decision will be made:
- 1: Is 80 watts enough? Add 1 point
- 2: Do you use Temperature Control features – subtract half a point (you’ll need an RDA or the RBA for the Big Baby Prince
- Do the images in this review leave you with a positive impression on the design of the mod and tank? Add 1 point
- Does a large hi-res display appeal to you? Add 1 point.
- Does spending $55 for an 80W mod and 6mL Sub-Ohm tank work for you? Add 1 point
Personally, I have recommended this Starter Kit to several friends, and no one has complained. Then again, these friends are mid-wattage vapers with limited budgets, friends that don’t need to own the high-end gear many others want.
