Simplicity is a word we use a lot around here. Usually, it’s in relation to entry-level pen vapes or smaller box mods. Rarely does it apply to mods that reach 150 watts, nor do we hear it much about vaunted “high-end” devices. Yet here we are, about to use it repeatedly in describing the all-new Augvape Druga Foxy box mod.
Because, as you’ll see, this stylish, ergonomic, altogether powerful box mod is also one of the simplest we’ve used. No temperature control… no custom wattage curves… no nonsense. The Druga Foxy is designed to look good and perform well, with minimal fuss and unnecessary features. And in that sense, it’s a huge success. While not a mechanical mod (there are plenty of protections built in) the Foxy is the most “set it and forget it” vape device in my collection – and I don’t want to put it down.
Is it weird and strangely designed in areas? You bet. But for those who like to set their wattage, vape and not worry about minutiae, the Druga Foxy does a hell of a job staying out of the way. Let’s take a closer look.
Initial Impressions
At first glance, the Druga is a fairly standard, sharp-looking box mod. The highly polished, almost chromed-out frame is broken up by a set of removable magnetic plates on both sides of the device. Obviously, one side is reserved for the dual-18650 batteries, which sit in series. But the reverse side of the mod is where it gets a little more interesting.
Removing the other panel reveals the controls, which are limited to simple, solid up and down buttons. They flank what might be the smallest OLED display since LavaTubes were the gold-standard for high-end vaping. It’s plenty bright, but since the Druga is “limited” to variable voltage and wattage, there isn’t much other information to share.
Normally, I’d balk at a lack of information, but the Foxy is so well-built and -designed that it gives users a sense of calm and trust. Like it’s saying “relax, we got this…” And with a company like Vaporesso at the helm, the pedigree is valid – the Druga Foxy is safe and functioning correctly. Just set the power level and vape on, kids.
Surrounding the screen is a hieroglyphic mish-mash of standard electric power formulas. If there was some functionality behind this design choice, I’d love the eclectic look of it. But as it stands, it’s just placed there without much thought. And it’s placed behind a removable aluminum face plate, to boot.

Feature Highlights
Now, to be honest, I didn’t want to mention the next questionable design choice, because I really do like the Foxy. And something tells me there was a desire for real innovation behind the decision. But the odd “clamp-style” 510 connection just baffles me. Instead of the standard screw-in thread installation, the Foxy adds a spring-loaded clamp to hold atomizers in place.
If this allowed for different sized connectors, I’d understand it. And if it didn’t require any additional screw-in on the part of the user, I’d also welcome the change. But no matter which tank I attached to the Foxy, I still had to manually turn it to truly secure it on the connection.
Now, don’t get me wrong – it works fine. But you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t really see the point. In 2018, there really isn’t anything wrong with the existing 510 threading format, and there isn’t much (if any) improvement to be had here, so consider it a rare “swing and a miss” on an otherwise well-designed vape device.
Beyond that, the Druga Foxy is more thought-out than most. The operation buttons are firm and clicky, and have absolutely ZERO rattle – something we don’t see nearly as often as you’d think.
Observations While Vaping
Because the Druga Foxy feels and looks so “high-end” it almost seems odd that there’s so little to do under the hood. But more importantly, once you actually spend a few minutes vaping the Foxy, you’ll probably start to wonder WHY you usually dedicate time to doing all that stuff under the hood.
Now, to be fair, we love control. We love seeing what’s happening on our devices. And we love knowing there are protections and warnings in place to keep us safe. But there’s also something inherently satisfying about attaching a tank, letting the automatic resistance reader detect the coil and setting an appropriate wattage, then just vaping without worrying about preheat settings and curves. It just effing works, smoothly and quickly.
Ramp speed is tremendous. Perhaps not the quickest we’ve seen, but certainly among the best. And the progression up the chain to 150 watts is slick and stutter-free. Not one misfire has occurred since the Druga Foxy arrived on my desk – and believe me, I’ve been trying to trip it up for testing purposes. More complex mods and chipsets would probably skip a beat every now and then – the Foxy just laughed and shrugged it off like fuzz off its shoulder.
I grew to love the “hidden” control buttons underneath the faceplate. Not only does it make the overall appearance seem more polished and mature, but it also serves as the perfect protection against accidental adjustments and mode changes. While the buttons are plenty firm, it only takes a quick simultaneous press of both to switch to voltage and back – a non-concern, thanks to the faceplate.
Though most mods in this category regularly eclipse 200 watts, Augvape smartly kept the Foxy to a solid 150, which means the device never pushes harder than it needs to, and never gets warmer than it should. Let’s be real, very few vapers NEED more than 150 watts, and even that’s a stretch. There’s more than enough head room for the lion’s share of vapers, and the smooth power output never blinks.
Finally, because there’s so few things “happening” inside the device, the Druga Foxy is extremely frugal on battery life, giving me well over 6 hours on a pair of freshly charged 18650s. And that was under testing conditions. Normal users can expect a full workday of power, if not longer.
Bottom Line
If you want to cut the excess and just have a smooth-powered, high-performance vape mod that gives you control over only what you need, take a VERY long look at the Augvape Druga Foxy. Not only is it extremely attractive and powerful, but it also eliminates a lot of the feature-ridden “noise” prevalent on so many other devices. I may like the “latest and greatest” vape devices, but every now and then I’m proven wrong – the Augvape Druga Foxy is a great example as to why.
