While there have been a few others like the e-Pipe 618, Kamry K1000, and several others I won’t bother to mention, all of them have had their issues. Not that any of the issues were critical, but they often led to a less than satisfying experience overall. But with the Elitar Pipe, Joyetech addresses every known issue with vape pipes and creates a wonderful, satisfying, and high-performance Vape Pipe Starter Kit.
Most Vaping Starter Kits provide everything you need to start vaping except the e-liquid. Typically, this means a battery (either internal or external), a tank/atomizer, a charging cable, and a couple of coils. The Joyetech Elitar Pipe Starter Kit is no exception, coming with the beautiful Elitar Pipe Mod, a Cubis Pro Mini-style clearomizer, two coils, a USB charging cable, and the user manual.
A starter kit is designed for beginners. The user would not need to purchase anything else to begin vaping (except e-liquid). Sometimes they need to add a battery (e.g., Joyetech eVic Basic), but most starter kits include internal batteries ready to go.
A Brief History of the Vape Pipe
Joyetech has become the leader in Vaping Starter Kits, with products like the eGo AIO, eGrip, and eVic Basic, among others. These products are simple to use, offer excellent performance for their price, and provide a fantastic vaping experience. The Elitar Pipe is no different.
While I haven’t used every vape pipe ever made, I’ve used most of the major brands and types. All of them suffered from low power, short battery life, poor flavor, and/or weak vapor. With the arrival of the Cubis Pro clearomizer and its variations, along with the remarkable eGo ONE coils and their various iterations, the time was ripe for a high-performance vape pipe. After spending more than a week with the Joyetech Elitar, I can confidently say it’s the most advanced, most attractive, and most versatile vape pipe ever made, providing the best vape pipe experience available.
In fact, the Elitar Pipe Mod can also be used as a standalone mod with any 510-threaded tank up to 22mm in diameter. Joyetech offers some excellent Joyetech CUBIS Max Atomizer and Joyetech ULTEX T80 Starter Kit Review options, but you’re not limited. I’ve personally used my Elitar Pipe Mod with a 22mm Kanger Subtank Nano and a 22mm Atlantis tank, both performing exceptionally well.
Joyetech Elitar Pipe Starter Kit
First, let’s talk about the specs and features of the Joyetech Elitar Pipe.
If the Elitar Clearomizer sounds familiar, it’s because it’s a variation of the Joyetech CUBIS Pro Mini Review. Since the Elitar Mod is only 22mm wide, it makes sense for Joyetech to include a 22mm version of the Cubis Pro. The Cubis Pro Clearomizer is a versatile tank that performs well in both MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) and DTL (Direct-to-Lung) vaping styles, depending on the coil used.
Hands On with the Joyetech Elitar Pipe
The Elitar Pipe Starter Kit arrives in standard Joyetech packaging: a white, sturdy cardboard box with an image of the Elitar Pipe on the front. Inside, the foam cutout snugly holds the Elitar Pipe Mod, the clearomizer (with a coil pre-installed), a spare coil, a charging cable, and the user manual.
The Elitar Pipe is available in multiple colors, but I chose the all-black version. The moment you pick it up, you immediately appreciate the solid construction and beautiful finish. It has a nice weight to it, feeling substantial but not overly heavy. The pipe mouthpiece and overall ergonomics make it comfortable to hold. The design is sleek, modern, and very appealing.
The Elitar Pipe Mod
The Elitar Pipe Mod feels good in the hand, and despite its unique shape, it’s easy to manipulate. The large 0.66-inch OLED screen is positioned on the stem of the pipe, making it easily visible while holding. The screen displays all the usual information: battery life, resistance, voltage, wattage, temperature (if applicable), and current mode.
The fire button is positioned on the top of the bowl, allowing for easy thumb firing. The adjustment buttons (+ and -) are located on the underside of the pipe, near the battery cap. They are flush with the surface but easily identifiable and clickable. The battery cap unscrews smoothly for replacing the 18650 battery. Joyetech recommends an 18650 battery with a minimum discharge current of 25A.
The USB port is also located on the underside of the pipe, near the 510-connector. This allows for convenient charging and firmware upgrades. The firmware is upgradeable, so you can always keep your device up to date with the latest features from Joyetech.
The Elitar Clearomizer
The included Elitar Clearomizer is a 22mm variation of the Cubis Pro Mini. It features top-fill and top-airflow, which helps to minimize leaks. To fill, simply unscrew the top cap and pour e-liquid into the large fill ports. It holds 2ml of e-liquid, which is standard for TPD-compliant tanks.
The top airflow design makes it very convenient, especially for a pipe-style device. You can adjust the airflow by twisting the top cap. From a very tight Mouth-to-Lung draw to a decent Direct-to-Lung draw, the airflow control is smooth and effective. The included drip tip is a standard pipe-style mouthpiece, which is comfortable and enhances the pipe aesthetic.
Performance (Coils, Wattage, E-liquid)
The Elitar Pipe Starter Kit comes with two coils: a BF SS316 0.5ohm coil and an LVC Clapton 1.5ohm coil. The 0.5ohm coil is great for sub-ohm vaping and direct lung inhales, while the 1.5ohm LVC (Liquid Valve Control) Clapton coil is designed for mouth-to-lung vaping with excellent flavor production. The LVC feature allows you to control the e-liquid flow to the coil, which is great for thicker or thinner e-liquids.
I tested the 0.5ohm coil in wattage mode between 25W and 35W, and in TC mode using SS316 at 450°F. Performance was stellar. Vapor production was ample, and flavor delivery was precise and vibrant. The 1.5ohm LVC Clapton coil was perfect for MTL vaping at around 10-15W. The flavor from this coil is exceptional, making it ideal for those who prefer a more traditional cigarette-like draw and strong flavor.
I also tried a QCS NotchCoil in the Elitar clearomizer, which performed admirably. This versatility is a major selling point for the Elitar. For e-liquid, I found that both 50/50 PG/VG and higher VG e-liquids (up to 70/30 VG/PG) worked well, especially with the LVC coil. For the sub-ohm coils, Nicotine Salts e-liquids could be an interesting combination, though I primarily used regular freebase nicotine e-liquids.
It’s important to note that an 18650 battery is not included. You will need to purchase one separately. I recommend using high-drain, authentic 18650 batteries from reputable brands like Sony, Samsung, or LG, with a continuous discharge rating of at least 25A. These are readily available at online vape stores like Vape Street or Vaporfi.
