Admittedly, the vast majority of my vaping is done with a box mod. However, in the early years, 2012-2013, I was all about the SMOK ZMAX, and my collection of colors for the ZMAX was, and is, extensive. It is for that reason I chose to review the new SMOK tube-shaped vape pens… they remind me of the early years in a way, but getting a vape going like the ones I get with the new SMOK “Sticks” is light years away from the old ZMAX and Clearomizer days. Today, I’ll tell you about my experience with the SMOK Stick V8 Baby, an ideal “driving mod”. Later, I’ll discuss the other SMOK “Sticks” coming your way.
The tube ‘vape pen’ battery portion of the Stick V8 Baby is a 2000mAh direct voltage device that works surprisingly well with the SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast (3mL capacity). To be honest, I didn’t expect a vape experience this good, especially with the V8-M2 coil heads.
The voltage range is 3.4V – 4.2V, and as the battery drains the voltage output decreases to the point where you’ll need to recharge it by using the included USB cable. Charge time is about 2 hours, vape time turns out to be more like 3-4 hours.
Of course, the true performance comes from the SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast and the dual coil V8-M2 heads. The Baby Beast with these coil heads outputs amazing flavor and big clouds of vapor. I do not recommend using other V8-Baby coils with the battery Stick V8. There won’t be enough power to push flavor and vapor anywhere near where you would want it. Sticking with the M2’s is really your only option, but it is a good one.
Vapor Authority has the SMOK Stick V8 Baby in stock now for $39.99. Colors available are stainless steel (silver) the one I have, and black, blue and red. I would have preferred any other color than the ‘silver’, but of course color doesn’t affect performance.

When I began my review period with the Stick V8 Baby I had filled the tank with one of my favorite vape juices and allowed it to sit for a good half hour. As I began to vape with it, I discovered a very smooth, very flavorful vape. I liked it. I enjoyed it. But I just didn’t see myself using it past the review period.
I have a lot of mods, so a small 2000mAh battery (5” with the tank attached!) sitting under a SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast performed nicely, but there are so many others that perform brilliantly. Then, something changed my mind about the Stick V8 Baby having a life with me past the review period. I got a call from Kiera and her car had broken down on the Mass Pike. I had to drive out there, pick her up, and arrange to have the car towed to a garage. While I was walking out the door I realized I still had the Stick V8 Baby in my hand and instead of turning around to grab something else, I decided to take it along.
It was during this drive that I had decided that the small vape pen makes an excellent “driving mod”. Of all the mods I’ve used while driving, the Stick V8 Baby was the easiest to carry while driving, and easiest to use. The only problem is using it on long drives, juice capacity and battery life would not be very good on a drive longer than a couple of hours.
As an affordable, high performance vape pen, the Stick V8 Baby is a good value. For just $5 more the SMOK Stick V8, with the SMOK TFV8 Big Baby tank (5mL) and a larger battery (3000mAh) might be the better value, but for vapers wanting something small enough to take everywhere, including a drive, I do like the Stick V8 Baby.
