When we reviewed the SMOK TFV12 Cloud Beast King (reviewed here) it was said that the King was too powerful to use as an all-day-every-day sub-ohm tank. I was surprised to hear so much feedback from our readers telling us the same thing (and many others said the opposite). The King is phenomenal, but a tad too much to use all day long. Well, the same applies here with the Vaporesso Cascade Sub-Ohm Tank. I believe this is Vaporesso’s attempt to unseat the King. While it is surely a beast of a tank, there is just one quibble I have with it, not being able to vape with it for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Initial Impressions of the Vaporesso Cascade Sub-Ohm

The Cascade is intimidating, no doubt. And it is a very different take on the way most (all?) sub-ohm tanks are designed. With the Cascade Tank the e-liquid is stored in borosilicate glass tube, and a lower chamber, for a total of 7mL capacity. Inside that glass tank are small holes that drip the e-liquid into a lower tank compartment. It is there that Vaporesso placed the coil head. When the user takes a pull on the wide bore drip tip, the pressurized system pushes the e-liquid onto and over the coils. Effective? Good Lord yes!

Details of the Vaporesso Cascade Sub-Ohm

“ELEMENT

The Cascade uses a slide-way top cap for filling and refilling the tank. Once the user slides away the top cap, it reveals a large fill port that can accommodate any dropper or needle nose eliquid bottle.

Some bullet points for the Cascade

  • 25mm wide at the base, 28mm wide at the glass.
  • 7ml capacity
  • 510 drip tip.
  • Top fill.
  • Comes in four flavors. Matte Black (what I have,), Silver, Blue and Rainbow .
  • Uses new GTM coils, and includes an adapter for GT (NRG)/SMOK Baby Beast coils.

The Vaporesso Cascade features an EUC style coil replacement system, which is a plug-pull style coil exchange method. This distinctive coil system design makes the Cascade the only tank on the market right now that has a remarkable range of 25W-200W. It is also the first sub-ohm tank to use an isolation structural design that separates the coil and the juice ‘vaults’ that is supposed to allow consistent, and intense flavor. While I’ve only been vaping with it for a couple of weeks, I’ve yet to experience any leaking as well.

The Cascade incorporates three adjustable bottom airflow slots, which is partially responsible for the absolutely massive clouds this tank can produce.

Cascade GT Core Coils

The Cascade Sub-Ohm Tank utilizes the proprietary GTM Coil Family, which includes a 0.4 ohm GTM 2 head and a 0.15 ohm GTM 8 coil head. The GTM 2 coil head is a vertical coil, with a wattage range of 40 to 80W while the GTM 8 coil head uses a quadruple vertical coil design, and it rated at 80 to 200W.

Vaporesso was kind (smart) enough to include a GT Core adapter (so you can use the coils that work with the Vaporesso NRG Tank or toss in the SMOK Baby Beast Coil) with the package contents, which allows users to install their preferred GT/SMOK core coil head (except for SMOK M-type coils). The wide bore drip tip is an 11mm Delrin drip tip that keeps the heat down no matter how much wattage you throw at the tank.

Flavor Fidelity and Vapor Production

The Vaporesso Cascade produces super-intense flavor fidelity no matter which GT coil is used. Furthermore, the Cascade produces massive clouds that can surpass the TFV12 Prince (reviewed here). Even at 120W (80W below the max), it produces such a huge amount of vapor that after half an hour I have to set it aside and use something with less force.

From Vaporesso

The Cascade Sub-Ohm Tank is the newest member of Vaporesso family. Features stylish look, up to 7/2ml juice capacity, slide-n-fill system, EUC plug-pull style coil change method. Innovative Universal Coil System, compatible with GT cores. This unique coil system design makes Cascade the only tank in the market able to satisfy vapers from 25W-200W range. The first of its kind Isolation structural design separates coil and juice vault allows consistent, intense flavor at every puff also reduces lower leakage and dry hit potential. Combo with balanced triangular three adjustable bottom airflow, users will be surprised how smooth, flavorful, cloud master this innovative device can offer.

The Cascade

Balanced Triangular Adjustable Air Flow

While I touched on the three airflow slots above, Vaporesso has actually named these slots as a system, called “Balanced Triangular Adjustable Air Flow.” This airflow system distributes stabilized airflow throughout the tank’s internal mechanics, helping to reduce the effects of its naturally unforgiving draws at higher wattage levels. Looking into the Vaporesso Cascade I learned that the company advertises that when pushing the Cascade to 200W with the GTM 8 Coil, the user will still be able to enjoy warm, intense vapor without feeling overwhelmed. Like many Vapers that have told me that the TFV12 Cloud Beast King CAN be used an all-day-every-day tank, I imagine it will be these same users that will be able to enjoy the Cascade the same way. But, for me, it’s simply too much for an extended vape.

The Vaporesso Cascade Tank is without a doubt the challenger/usurper to the Cloud Beast King, but not the Prince. It is definitely a high quality, precisely engineered tank, with clean, classic lines that give the tank a serious industrial look and feel.  I am a big fan of the Vaporesso NRG (reviewed here) and with it I enjoy terrific flavor and ample amounts of vapor, but I can also vape with the NRG all day long and not feel overwhelmed. That’s the main difference between a sub-ohm tank for the masses, and a sub-ohm tank built to kick ass.

The Vaporesso Cascade Tank is available in several colors, including a dead serious stainless steel, a matte black, a blue, and a rather unattractive rainbow. My review unit is the matte black, and it sturdy construction, short glass window, and tall wide bore tip drip, it has an understated, almost malicious, look to it.  We also obtained a few of the blue Cascade tanks, and a couple of rainbow colored, but when it comes to something built to intimidate, I would recommend the black or steel.

Wrapping Up and the Score

If you’re ready for a sub-ohm tank that gives the Cloud Beast King some serious competition, the Vaporesso Cascade Tank is it. Just because I can’t vape with the Cascade for long periods of time it doesn’t mean I don’t rate it as one of the most powerful, and flavorful tanks available. I get the impression that the “isolation” idea, keeping the coil head isolated from the main reservoir of eliquid, and allowing the juice to “cascade” over the strong coils, might just be a real “innovation”, something we just don’t see much of these days.

In the end, the Vaporesso Cascade is an excellent sub-ohm tank. If you’re looking for a challenge, look to the Cascade. You won’t be sorry.

My Score: A+

*Not for the faint of heart.
