The Uwell Whirl II 2 Sub-Ohm Tank – Uwell makes great tanks, but have largely lived in sub-ohm territory for most of the last five years. So when the all-new Whirl II tank arrived in our office, we were a little taken aback by the decidedly mouth-to-lung (MTL) focus on this new atomizer.

This might not be Uwell’s bread and butter style of vaping, but man did they deliver on their promise. Read on to see if this more-restricted side of Uwell is right for your needs.

Before we forget, it’s always a good idea to purchase a pack of replacement coils for any tank you add to your collection. You’ll find the Uwell Whirl II replacement coils here –  Uwell Whirl Replacement Coils

The Official Word

The Uwell WHIRL II 2 Tank, featuring a 3.5mL top filled capacity, curved chassis construction, and can utilize the Uwell Whirl Coil Series. Constructed from durable stainless steel, the Whirl 2 Tank is curved at the top and bottom to prevent the glass from making contact with the ground during falls and drops. Holding up to 3.5mL of eJuice within the tank, the Uwell Whirl 2 Tank utilizes coils from the Whirl Coil Series to offer MTL or DL performance when used with the 1.8ohm or 0.6ohm coil, respectively. Working in conjunction with the dual slotted bottom airflow control ring, the Uwell Whirl 2 tank offers airflow options that can be set fully open or closed for optimal performance or flavor production.

Aesthetics of the Uwell Whirl II 2

Uwell Whirl II Tank for Mout to Lung Vaping and moreLet’s just cut to the chase – the Whirl II is gorgeous. Using a pristine, seamless finish and laser-precise machining, the Whirl II will stand out in your collection by not looking identical to everything else out there. From the angled cutouts to the high-quality Pyrex glass, Uwell just put on a clinic in simple, effective tank design.

Though I’d prefer a sliding fill system, I enjoyed the traditional twist cap, which is locked in place with a simple turn of the cap. This way nothing comes loose in a pocket, and your internal “vacuum” stays true. I had absolutely ZERO leaking issues with the Whirl II during testing, and I expect it to stay that way.

My only personal gripe? I’ve never liked flimsy mouthpieces like the included MTL tip. It’s a preference thing, but I’ve found that flavor gets a little too dense and less ‘pronounced’ with this one installed.

Vaping the Uwell Whirl II Tank

Uwell Whirl II What’s interesting is that this Whirl, championed as a versatile MTL tank, is also inviting direct lung vapers to the party. While it’s never going to replace my fog-chuckers, the Whirl II does a really good job catering to multiple styles of vaping, using the same types of liquids. With the airflow wide open, I was able to generate a sizable cloud at low wattage.

There are two coils included here – a standard 1.8-ohm MTL head, as well as a looser 0.6-ohm coil that exceeds expectations, even from a jaded reviewer. The flavor is strong, and the coil life is exceptional, even under heavy use. Each head gave me more than two weeks of performance before flavors began to suffer from the testing. Typical users should see even better results.

(Uwell fans, yes the “Pro-FOCS” flavor system is on the Whirl II, and we still don’t quite know what it means.)

The MTL Mode

In MTL “mode” (where I spent most of my testing time) the Whirl II proved to be a low-wattage warrior, giving me hours upon hours of no-frills flavor, surprisingly thick vapor production, and effortless refilling and coil replacement – not that anyone needs to replace the heads that often.

As a direct lung tank, the Whirl is still flavorful, if not as concentrated or nuanced. But make no mistake, this is a capable restricted lung device when used with the right juices and wattages. I never needed to tinker much, and the coils were more than up to the task.

Uwell Whirl II MTL Sub-Ohm TankNo matter how you choose to use the Whirl II, it’s ready to perform. Even though you’ll be refilling the 3.5mL tank more often with the sub-ohm coil, there’s really no criticisms to be had here.

Whirl II Pros

– Excellent coil performance and longevity

– Nice fill port setup

– Sharp design

And Cons

– Slightly small capacity

– Flimsy drip-tip slightly affects comfort

– Sub-ohm coil isn’t as flavorful as the MTL head

Bottom Line

Uwell knows tank design, and the Whirl II is a very strong entry into the MTL tank race. While it can also be put to work as a capable restricted lung device, we strongly recommend the flavor and enjoyment it provides MTL vapers. Highly recommended. In stock now at Element Vape
