A Staff Announcement from 2014
In July 2014, publisher John Manzione announced that Nick Bessette would contribute video work to Spinfuel. The announcement followed a meeting at the VCCNE event in Springfield, Massachusetts, and reflected the publication’s interest in expanding beyond written articles.
At the time, Spinfuel was building a wider editorial identity around articles, reviews, awards, and new media. Bringing in a video contributor was part of that evolution.
What Has Been Removed
The original promoted an outside channel, described planned tutorials and reviews, named product categories, and embedded a third-party video. Those elements have been removed. They should not be read as current product guidance, a source of instruction, or an endorsement of any creator or channel.
Why Preserve It?
Staff announcements help explain how a long-running publication grew and changed. This post records a real expansion of Spinfuel’s creative team and its early attempt to bring video into the magazine’s work. That is part of the Spinfuel Chronicles.
