The Smallest Mod from SMOK Yet – SMOK QBox TC Box Mod Kit
The upcoming 50W TC Box Mod from SMOK, the SMOK QBox TC Box Mod Kit certainly seems to be an interesting new mini-box mod kit from the minds of SMOKTech. Offering the minimal power of 50 watts, and the inclusion of the TFV8 Baby Beast, it seems to be a high value package for Vapers who don’t need a lot of power, yet still want the frills of a full blown SMOK VW/TC box mod.
The SMOK QBOX TC Box Mod does disappoint experienced, or demanding Vapers with its miserly 1600mAh internal battery however, and this makes us a little worried about the success of this tiny package.
That’s not to say there isn’t a market out there for such a tiny mod. In fact, if the SMOK QBox stacks up to the official specs it could very well become the ideal stealth mod for advanced or experienced Vapers looking for inconspicuous device to take along to place where vaping might be frowned upon.
50W TC Box Mod That’s Tiny, Tiny, Tiny!
The SMOK QBox measures just 2.15 inches tall, 1.32 inches wide, and just under 1 inch in depth. Consider; the SMOK AL85, (see photo to the left) or mini-Alien, measures a whopping (in comparison) 4.3 inches tall, 2.92 inches wide, and 1.67 inches deep. We’re taking tiny here, about half the size of the AL85!
Yet, despite the tiny size of this remarkable box mod, the OLED display that SMOK is famous for (0.96″) seems to be the exact display used here in the QBox. Looking at the available photos of the SMOK QBox with the SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast, the display takes up 90% of the front side of the mod, while the Baby Beast looks like the SMOK TFV12 Cloud Beast King sitting atop the SMOK Alien 220W TC Box Mod. Extraordinary!
Replacement Coils are Key – TFV8 Baby Beast and QBox
Looking to maximize the relatively short battery life (1600mAh is really down there), SMOK has
included two replacement coils that promise to add some valuable minutes between charges.
When you purchase the SMOK QBox TC Box Mod Full Kit, the TFV8 Baby Beast will include these coils:
1 x V8 Baby M2 Atomizer Coils (0.25 Ohms) – (Pre-Installed)
1 x V8 Baby M2 Atomizer Coil (0.25 Ohms)
The V8-Baby-M2-Core Atomizer Coil has a resistance of 0.25 Ohms. This Coil Head was designed for Direct Voltage mods using the SMOK TFV8 Baby Beast or Big Baby Beast. Its resistance is 0.25Ω, and has a wattage range of 25W-45W. The M2 is a new coil, and one we haven’t used before. It will be interesting to see how this new coil performs with a variable wattage mod.
What We Already Like about the SMOK QBox
Here’s the deal; whenever we see one of these small, internal battery mods, especially recently, they’ve been Direct Voltage, simple mods with no adjustment buttons or display. Straight point and vape mods that are mostly boring, and under-powered. But here, despite the diminutive size, the Vaper controls the wattage, or the temperature control, as he or she fits. Wattage range is 1-50W, temperature range is 200-600 degrees, so instead of offering a simple point n shoot, SMOK offers all the great things about a SMOK Box Mod, at a size I didn’t was possible.
Vapor Authority will sell this tiny Kit for $39.95. Considering all the features, plus the Baby Beast tank, the value is there. If it performs like it should, and we suspect it will, then who knows, even our own experienced vapers here might want one to use when we’re not supposed to vape.
