SPINFUEL VAPE REVIEW SCORE

Now, with that warning out of the way, let’s review this extremely advance pod mod from Lost Vape, The Orion DNA Go Starter Kit. The FIRST Evolv DNA Pod Mod.

“ELEMENT

The Orion DNA GO, is seriously a wunderkind of design and high-tech technology. It was built to realize a dream of what a real Pod Mod could be capable of. At first, I was skeptical, a DNA pod mod? But after just a few days of use, I’m sold. The Lost Vape Orion is not cheap, but for those that can afford it, this is the Pod Mod you want.

This DNA Pod Mod is the collaboration between Lost Vape (Triade, Paranormal, et al.) and Evolv, the company behind the DNA chipset. The Lost Vape Orion DNA GO is a refillable pod system with the most intelligent chipset ever seen in a pod mod.

Integrating Evolv’s advanced DNA Go chip within a beautifully machined chassis in a compact, pod-size structure makes for one impressive piece of vaping technology. Compatible with Evolv’s Escribe software (Mac and PC), this pod mod gives you more control and more precise settings than any other mod of its kind.

The Lost Vape Orion is constructed with a exceedingly durable alloy shell with real carbon fiber or Abalone details that create the most truly luxurious all-in-one (AIO), pod system the world of the vape community has ever seen.

The Lost Vape Orion DNA Go chipset is a capable of fully customizable adjustments, power regulations, and precise output modes. Uses operate the Orion by its responsive bottom adjustment button and corresponding LED lights.

The Lost Vape Orion has three standard outputs: Low (White Light), Medium (Blue Light), and High (Red Light). Because the Lost Vape Orion is an open-system pod mod users can decide for themselves which eJuice to use in the refillable, long-lasting pods. The power outputs allow the user to adjust for each blend of eJuice that’s chosen to be vaped by the user.

The DNA Go chip also features “Replay Functionality”, which allows users to save the most recent output for future firing levels. Internally, the Lost Vape Orion is capable of 40W of output, comes with a 950mAh integrated battery that is rechargeable through its microUSB port located on the bottom of the device.

As a DNA chip, it even features Boost functionality. It will briefly increase the initial power output at the start of a puff. This is useful to allow coils to vapor output much faster.

LOST VAPE ORION 40W DNA GO AIO POD DEVICE REVIEW

Vaping with the Lost Vape Orion DNA Go Pod Mod

I received two pods when the Orion arrived, a 0.5-ohm and a 0.25-ohm. The DNA GO chipset is able to auto detect resistance of pods to adjust to different settings automatically.

Both pods, if you can believe it, are not true MTL pods. Lost Vape tells users that the .5ohm pod is the MTL pod but even after closing down the airflow slots to simulate a proper, tight MTL hit I can feel that it wasn’t made to vape in this manner, it just doesn’t hit the way a solid MTL tank or pod mod hits.

Even adjusting the wattage down by using the escribe software I discovered the .5-ohm pod to be less restrictive than a true MTL. Another reviewer that was using an Orion thought the .5-ohm pod with the airflow set to wide open was truly exceptional, and her preferred way to use this unique pod mod. For this MTL fan, I expected a somewhat tighter draw and intense flavor, thought honestly, it was the best pod mod performance I’ve ever experienced.

Once a vaped through some nic-salt eJuice (3.0%) with the .5-ohm pod I switched out to the .25 Direct Lung (DL) pod with my usual 3mg 70:30 VG/PG e-liquid with airflow wide open. Talk about performance! For the several days I’ve had the Lost Vape Orion I’ve been taking this thing with me everywhere and getting excellent performance every single time I hit it. Lots of flavor, and a whole lot more vapor clouds than I ever expected from a device this small.

During the final couple of days of the review period I vaped the MTL .5 ohm pod again, only this time with the same 3mg 70:30 blend I used in the .25-ohm pod. I set the airflow wide open, and again I experienced some awesome flavor, but less vapor, and it’s still going strong.

The Lost Vape Orion DNA Go Pod Mod is a low wattage pod system that performs as a larger, full size mod and sub-ohm tank. Of course, refilling the pods are frequent, but for its diminutive size, these pods hold a full 3mL of eJuice, or at least Element Vape states that. I’m not sure, sometimes it feels like less.

The battery life was better than expected, partly due to the fact that as small as the Orion is, the size of the battery, 950mAh, lasted longer than I could possibly expect. Using the Direct Lung .25-ohm pod I got about 4 hours of vaping before feeling it was time to recharge. Using the .5-ohm MTL pod I got a little less, closer to 3 hours before needing to recharge. Remember, the Orion pods are Sub-Ohm, and although they require more power than the plus-ohm coils in the pods of other pod mod systems, the battery life was more than I expected. Recharge time is just 45 minutes with the onboard 1A charger.

If this experiment with the DNA Go chip is successful (mainly due to the cost of the Orion), then I image Lost Vape will create a couple of plus-ohm pods for those that want a different vape experience. I can see a 1-ohm or 1.2-ohm designed for nic salts specifically should the first run of the Orion sell out fast.

Pros and Cons

My Pros:

  • Battery can last several hours
  • It hits hard, especially when using nic-salt
  • Extremely well built, like other Lost Vape devices
  • Pods seem to last a long time.
  • The DL vape is very smooth, with great flavor and ample vapor.
  • The .5-ohm pod produces good vapor as well, and good flavor with normal eJuice.

My Cons:

  • The LED Light is hard to see in the daylight, outside.
  • USB port door feels like it might not last as long as it should.
  • For a Pod Mod, this is the expensive, Cadillac model.

Although others might disagree, for me this is the answer to Vapers that want to vape like they do with their larger mods and tanks, in a tiny form factor. I love how Lost Vape and Evolv went to the Sub-Ohm level with their initial pods, and even creating a specific DL pod with the 0.25-ohm.

Simply put, for a tiny pod mod device, I’m in love. Yes, the cost is high, but when you see one in person you’ll realize the Orion is like a piece of jewelry; precisely machined, detailed like crazy, and the body and pods fits together so well they become like one.

Score: A+
