The New Aerotank Plus

Kanger’s new Aerotank Plus is a brand-new take on the older Aerotank’s that were so popular a couple years back. Much has changed in the design and function. Today’s gorgeously designed Aerotank Plus is strictly (in my opinion) an MTL (mouth-to-lung) 2mL tank, used by Vapers wanting a tighter draw, less vapor, and a truer, though richer, “smokers experience”. As much as we like to review cloud chaser tanks, there are thousands of users that prefer the mouth to lung vaping style. Kanger’s answer to the MTL vaper will please most everyone.

The material used in the construction of the 2mm wide Aerotank Plus is 304-high-grade stainless steel alloy. This alloy makes the Aerotank Plus mighty durable, and its sound 510-connector makes the tank feel solid on any mod. I’ve been using it off and on for more than a month with nary an issue. It just plain work.

Aerotank Plus Airflow Design

The Aerotank Plus employs a completely new airflow system that provides the ability to fine-tune the amount of air that is drawn into the tank when taking a hit. You can go with an airier hit by widening the airflow valve, or a tighter hit by closing it off. However, even at the widest airflow setting, the coil heads for the Aerotank Plus are designed as mouth to lung coils and the drip tip is very slender, much like an old-fashioned contraption used in the 50’s and 60’s… I think they were called a “cigarette holder”? Anyway, with such a narrow drip tip and the MTL design of the coils, this tank will always be for vapers that enjoy a tight, cigarette-like drag.

Aerotank Plus Refill System

The top-fill is now the most common method for filling and refilling our tanks, and the Aerotank uses the same top-cap refill method. Users can keep the tank attached to their battery, unscrew the top cap, fill with ejuice, screw in the top cap and continue. With a 2mL capacity and a 50:50 PG/VG eliquid, that 2mL capacity lasts 3 to 4 times that of a 3.5mL sub-ohm tank with HighVG eliquid. That being the case, the 2mL capacity works in its favor. You will not need to refill the tank every 20 minutes like you would with says, the Ceravape Cerabis 44, a sub-ohm tank that chews through eliquid like it was going out of style.

Aerotank Plus Coil Heads

The Aerotank Plus is designed to use Kanger’s SSOCC Coil heads. They perform well in the Aerotank Plus and are available in a variety of resistances and wire materials, so you can use the tank in TC capable mods. Despite being able to use a wide variety of resistance coils, keep in mind that the drip tip will prevent cloud chasers from chasing. The tank comes with one 1.8Ω coil, built as an MTL, you can try to use sub-ohm coils if you want, but my experience with an SSOCC sub-ohm didn’t fare well.

The SSOCC coils are made with 100% pure Japanese Organic Cotton and high quality wires. I found the flavor production to be fairly spectacular and if I was an MTL vaper the Aerotank would be my tank of choice. Although I prefer sub-ohm tanks with ceramic coils (Kanger’s own SSOCC ceramic coils are quite nice) and lots and lots of clouds, I have to admit that when it comes to flavor, the Aerotank Plus does an excellent job.

Conclusion

There is some disagreement among the staff as to whether the Aerotank Plus is truly a “MTL-only” tank. Using Kanger’s Clapton coil head at .5Ω, or their Ceramic SSOCC at also rated at .5Ω some of the staff members said the Aerotank Plus could pass as a lung hit tank with a high VG eliquid. I’m not completely disagreeing, but as built, with the slender drip tip, even the half-ohm coils face airflow restriction that just prevents me from calling it a true lung hit tank.
