The Herakles Honor Sub-Ohm Tank

This tank gives me Deja vu! It brings me back to when I was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day and I wanted to vape something more advanced than my Kamry K100 Mechanical Mod. One of the first Sub-Ohm Tanks I purchased was the Herakles V1 back in 2015! This was the tank that originally got me to quit smoking analogs! At the time, it was the best flavor producing tank I ever owned! Till this day, I have a fresh coil in it and have it stored away for some vintage vaping on some rare occasions. Because of the bottom fill only and lackluster airflow, Sense has improved upon the original with a couple iterations. The new Herakles Honor Tank finally is up there with the original with nothing but improvements!

The Herakles Honor At a Glance

The Sense Herakles Honor Tank is a new and improved version of the highly-successful Herakles line. The name came from ‘honoring‘ the first Herakles, aptly named Herakles Honor! The design is very similar to the original but differs enough to stand as a staple tank for Sense. It’s available in Black, Rose Gold and the variation I received, Stainless Steel. Even though I prefer the Rose Gold color on any tank that has that option, the Stainless Steel just gleams and looks great on top of every device! I enjoy this tank so much I’m sure to pick up the Rose Gold model.  Every single line, edge, fit and finish is just flawless and very well executed for such a simple Sub-Ohm Tank.

The ability to remove a full tank of eJuice and change out the coil is a huge benefit and an attractive selling point! The whole process results in a completely clean coil exchange and can be done in a minute or two. You will notice a little dribble of eJuice coming from the airflow holes after refilling. The key here is to take a few pulls as soon as you fill it instead of filling it and letting it sit. This way, you eliminate the bit of gurgling and you won’t see any leaking eJuice. During use, I’ve experienced absolutely no leaking! I’ve noticed a little sweating around the juice flow control ring, but is normal and not a concerning factor.

The overall finish and construction is just exquisite! The threads are some of the smoothest I’ve seen and everything comes apart and goes back together extremely solid. Sense provided some really deep knurling on the top cap, the juice flow ring and base section. I like how they implemented a bit more spaced lines on the top cap, a little closer together towards the middle and nice and close on the base. Instead of a more uniform look, I’m really glad Sense decided to do it that way as it sets it apart from everything else on the market! Sense also went with the same circular ring type pattern around the airflow that they’re known for with their tanks. I commend Sense for maintaining that vintage look but with a more modern twist!

The Sense Herakles Honor is a 22.3mm Sub-Ohm Tank made out of Stainless Steel. The tank holds 3ml of eJuice with easy top-fill access instead of the ancient bottom fill of the first Herakles tank. The two 10.5mm x 2.5mm kidney shaped fill slots make it simple to fill and refill your tank! My unicorn bottles fit nicely but using a dropper could get messy if you don’t pay attention. The adjustable juice flow control surrounding the chimney has six 3.7mm x 2.4mm juice slots that can be opened or closed completely off, allowing you to change your coil without disassembling, emptying or cleaning the tank! A very well-done feature that makes it super convenient to check your coil without all the mess! Even though my juice flow stays open most of the time, having the ability to regulate my juice flow on a Sub-Ohm Tank is a nice consumer-focused touch!

Sense labels the airflow system as a Dual Double-Stacked Airflow, but after close inspection with a magnifying glass and

mycalipers, it’s in fact only split by the circular rings that surround it. The adjustable airflow is comprised of two 10mm x 3mm airflow slots that are opened and closed via a ‘click-clock’ adjustment system. The ring allows for four different airflow adjustments with the option to completely close it off. This is definitely a Direct Lung tank because Mouth-To-Lung vaping is nonexistent, even with the 1. 8-ohm coil. The airflow has an excellent airy but restrictive draw that I really enjoy! The clouds are huge but the flavor this tank provides is stellar!

Sense uses a high-grade glass which is more durable than standard glass and they included a replacement just in case the inevitable happens. I didn’t receive any extra O-rings. Please let me know in the comments if you did or didn’t, I may have received a pre-release version. The Sense branding logo laser-etched around the bottom of the glass and on the chimney really makes the brand stand out and adds something else to admire.

The 9.5mm ID Delrin drip tip holds nice and snug in the top cap by thick, high quality dual O-rings. If you don’t like the drip tip, the Sense Honor is 510-compatible giving you the flexibility to use your preferred drip tips! The 510-pin is not protruding much at all so Sense included a warning inside the packaging to not use this Atomizer on a Hybrid Mechanical Mod. I don’t see this warning out in the open from a lot of manufacturers and it’s a relief to see this!

Herakles Honor Sub-Ohm Tank Review 1

The original Herakles coils are compatible with this tank! I still have at least two dozen coils that weren’t being used until now! When refilling these newHerakles Honor Coils, you will have some gurgling but it will fade after a few vapes. Each coil had a very short break-in period of half a tank or less. A couple of my devices read the resistance way off then what it’s supposed to be, but for the most part the resistances are accurately described.

The preinstalled 1.8Ω MTL coil surprised me! Even at the recommended limit of 50W, the vapor stayed nice and cool, no cotton taste or burnt hits. The four 3.5mm wicking holes do a great job keeping up with the constant chain vaping I’m used to doing. I’m not normally vaping on higher ohm coils, but I think I need to going forward! The flavor is ridiculous! Even as little as 30W, the taste is so pronounced and you can really enjoy your eJuice the way it should be enjoyed! Right at 50W was a perfect vape for me. Warm, dense vapor production and strong flavor profile is just fantastic! And the tank and drip tip stay very cool and never get abnormally hot.

A 0.6Ω coil is also included with the tank and has been my go-to coil and tank combo! 100W is the highest rated wattage of all

the Sense Herakles Honor coils and this thing can handle it! Drip tip does get hot at that wattage but does have a spit back screen over the top of the cotton that does a great job eliminating any spitting eJuice! The wicking holes are smaller than the 1.8Ω at 2.7mm but the inner diameter of the coil is 4.2mm giving it more open airflow and more clouds! Right at 75W is a perfect balance of heat, flavor and vapor and is a really nice, all-day vape setup. If neither of these tickles your fancy, there’s 0.2Ω, 0.4Ω Kanthal Coils and a 0.2Ω Ni200 option for use in Temperature Control Mode! Got a pack of each so I’ll be giving all of these a comparison test in the near future!

Herakles Honor Sub-Ohm Tank Review 2

The only con I’ve came up with is that Sense didn’t include additional O-rings! Maybe just mine didn’t so please leave a comment below if you received some extras with yours! Just a great, well-made product from Sense! The life expectancy is always long with Sense products and I can attest to that first hand. For around the $25 mark, this tank is a must have for all spectrums of vaping experience. Easy enough to learn on but has enough options to optimize your experience as an advanced vaper! I’m glad this isn’t ‘just another Sub-Ohm Tank’ and is a perfect recreation of a highly regarded tank!
