Ello Plus Disposable and Rechargeable Vapes – Flavors 5 thru 8

In my first review for the Ello Plus disposable and rechargeable vapes I reviewed 4 of BLVK’s 12 flavors available for the mods. Since that time, I spent a full week with flavors 4 through 7. It’s been a remarkably pleasant week and a very satisfying week for vaping.

Before I tell you about the next 4 flavors let me remind you about the best parts of the Ello Plus. If you want to read the full content jump back to that review.

For those of you that decided not to jump back right now, the Ello Plus disposable and rechargeable vapes are spectacular pieces of hardware that is the best thought out, best executed disposable & rechargeable vape system I’ve seen, or used.

With a full 12mL capacity, the Ello Plus provides the user with 6000 puffs, or “hits”. Some may be getting a little less, some a little more. It depends on how you vape.

Because the Ello Plus is rechargeable vape the user never needs to worry about running out of battery power before vaping the mod. With one of the largest capacities of 5% nicotine-salt it can take days to vape all 12mL.

Most users I talked to tell me their Ello Plus needed a recharge every other day or so. This was my experience as well. After a full day of vaping the power level seems to have fallen about 50-65%. This affected the thickness of the vapor, and the length of draw. So, I would make it a habit to recharge them every night.

What makes the Ello Plus a cut above the rest is how the minute you notice a drop in performance, you can attach a USB-C cable and recharge it to 100% is about 30 minutes. USB-C is wicked fast, and it’s 650mAh battery tops off very quickly. Once it’s recharged the performance goes straight back to the top, providing another day of premium vaping.

Four More Flavors

Havana Tobacco – “Each puff takes you to the streets of Havana with the rich and robust flavors of a Cuban Cigar.”

Me – There is a huge difference between BLVK’s American Tobacco and Havana Tobacco. Like several other “Havana” flavors I’ve vaped over the years, Havana tobacco is more of a “cigar” tobacco flavor that a middle-of-the-road rich tobacco blend.

A Cuban cigar flavor blend that has rich tobacco notes of a fine cigar. The vapor seems thicker, more aromatic, and its high nicotine content, Havana will deliver satisfaction after half a dozen relatively short hits off the mouthpiece of the Ello Plus.

I kept an eye on how long each Ello Plus unit lasted, or how long the 12mL of e-liquid lasted. Havana Tobacco certainly felt like it lasted longer than the others, but that might be because it’s the most intense flavor and where I might take a dozen hits on a flavor like “Strawberry Swirlz”, I never took more than 5 or 6 hits of this flavor without wanting to put it down. Whether it was just me, the tobacco flavor, or how the e-liquid hit the coils in this mod.

All I can say with any certainty is that Havana Tobacco Ello Plus packs more of everything. Whether or not that’s a good thing is up to you. I enjoyed this intense, deep tobacco flavor, but it’s not one I would keep in stock here at home or the office.

Kiwi Bang Ice – “Candied orange and crisp kiwi blended with a refreshingly cool sensation.”

Me – I was going to leave this flavor for the last review. The reason is the word “Kiwi…” I just do not like Kiwi’s. Not the fruit and never a kiwi e-liquid.

With 8 flavors left after publishing the first part of this review I removed the USB-C protector and the plastic tip securing the mouthpiece of each Ello Plus and did a taste test for each one.

Just a short hit off each one. When I tried the Kiwi Bang Ice I was blown away by a sweet, candied orange jelly rings flavor. The ‘kiwi’ flavor was more of an undertone, barely suspectable to me.

The major flavor, besides the iciness (always a major flavor component), is the candied orange. The orange flavor reminded me, somewhat, of chocolate covered orange candies.

I suppose the best thing I can say about this Ello Plus is not to let the Kiwi flavor turn you away from it. Yes, there is a Kiwi component in this rich, detailed flavor layering, but it’s not a kiwi-only flavor, not by a long shot.

Cool Grapple Ice – “A fusion of juicy grapes and crisp apples cooled to perfection.”

Me: It took me years to discover grape flavors in e-liquids. I avoided ‘grape’ so long because it seemed that a grape flavor, like grape jelly, should not be tasted in vapor form. Yet, friends from all over the industry used to tell me grape was the best flavor for vaping when it’s done right. I was just stubborn until around 2019.

Cool Grapple Ice hits hard on the icy overtones, as one would expect, but that sweet grape flavor is also prominent. The undertone flavor is a green apple (kind of tart) flavor, which I didn’t expect.

Anything “Grapple” sounds like it would be an even distribution between grape and apple flavors, but for me, the grape flavor came out on top.

Again, considering the Ello Plus has a 5% nicotine-salt recipe, and nearly all have a menthol or icy major tone, the fact that the grape flavor was as pronounced as it was, says a lot about the flavorists at BLVK. It’s a tricky balance, but one they tackled with excellence.

Blue Slushie Ice – “A refreshing blast of ice mixed with sweet blue raspberry.”

Me: The Ello Plus Blue Slushie Ice is the simplest of all 12 flavors. By now just about every e-liquid manufacturer has released at least one blue raspberry e-liquid. The only problem for me is ‘blue raspberry’ is a no-flavor flavor. I can’t taste blue raspberry at all. I believe it has something to do with my brain expecting to be tasting a raspberry flavor, and there isn’t one.

In fact, blue raspberry isn’t really a thing. Raspberries are not blue, there is no hybrid raspberry fruit.

This is from Wikipedia: “Blue raspberry is a manufactured flavoring and food coloring for candy, snack foods, syrups, and soft drinks. The flavor and color do not derive from any species of raspberry.”

I knew this, instinctively, for years, which may account for my inability to taste it. So, if I can’t identify blue raspberry, then what is it that I can taste?

Honestly? A sweet icy cold in vapor form. I mean the kind of “icy” that numbs the inside of your mouth. In fact, it is impossible to breathe deep after taking a hit of any size of Blue Slushie Ice.

Early in the week I had to run a bunch of errands and the temperature outside was in the mid-80’s. I had the Blue Slushie Ice with me, and I promise you, that icy feeling kept me cool all day. It was weird, but it’s the truth.

Conclusion of Part 2 – Ello Plus Disposable and Rechargeable Vapes

In part one I went into some detail about these marvelous and smart disposables and rechargeable vapes from BLVK. The overall design of the Ello Plus is very 2023, and the finer features not found in many disposables, including the ability to recharge the 650mAh battery to ensure a solid vape experience for every drop of the 12mL of nicotine-salt e-liquids make it one of the top contenders, if not the top contender, for the best disposable of 2023.

Every disposable, closed system vape depends as much on the flavor of each vape as it does on the hardware features. When a company can design and build something you can be proud to vape, along with a dozen flavors that are guaranteed to satisfy every user, it has a winner in its lineup.
