Okay, so it’s been quite a while since we’ve talked much about single-use coils, or what most of us think of simply as “coils.” Over the past few years, factory-assembled atomizers have gone from being a low-powered laughingstock to the preferred solution for all but the most hardcore vaper. How did we get here?

Let’s begin…

Disposable Coils: An Update on Single-Use Coils by Spinfuel VAPE

Single-Use Coils - What's Changed?

“ELEMENT

Back in the bad old days, coils were pretty simple – you still had your atomizer, coil, and wick, but the coil wires were much thinner, creating higher resistance as measured in ohms. Vapers were limited to a single resistance wire wrapped a few times around a wick, and there was little variance in terms of performance from coil to coil – aside from the maddeningly frequent occurrence of coils that were bad right out of the box.

Modern coils offer a wealth of choice. Do you want a tight, cigarette-like mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw? There are high-resistance coils with small juice and air flow holes to accommodate you! How about a loose, wide-open draw that can handle hundreds of watts’ worth of power and deliver massive clouds to fog a room? You’re covered, often using the same tank as the direct-lung, or mouth-to-lung crowd (DL)!

Coil wraps and atomizer posts have changed, too – instead of single-wire, single-coil setups, there are now a plethora of options, with some advanced sub-ohm tanks using as many as 12 wires in a single coil or wrapped/braided combinations designed to deliver maximum flavor fidelity and/or vapor delivery, depending on your individual goal.

And, depending on your vaping goals you’ll want to look at certain types of tanks. For the cloud chasers out there Spinfuel VAPE has put together a list of what they consider to be the best of the Cloud Chasers, a collection of Sub-Ohm Tanks that throw huge clouds, but do not ignore the importance of flavor. Even the most passionate cloud chasers want flavor, deep, true fidelity flavor, and there are tanks that live up to that.

If you’re evenly divided on vapor production and flavor, Spinfuel VAPE has also created a piece for the best all-around tanks on the market this year. This collection includes some fine sub-ohms and mouth-to-lung tanks that every Vaper should be able to find just the right vape experience.

Despite this piece today that concerns the disposable, or single-use (by single-use we mean that once the coil has lived its life, the whole thing is discarded and the user screws in a brand new one.) we must remember that although most Vapers use these prebuilt coil systems, there are plenty that prefer to wrap their own heating wire, thread them with organic cotton and attach them to a build deck that becomes the “coils” inside the tank.

Many of the better Sub-Ohm Tanks come with, or offer as an option, an RBA, or Rebuildable, that allows the user to create a “coil” of specific ohms, with an X-amount of wicking material (organic cotton), that further customizers the vape experience.

Okay, so…?

Having covered the basics, there’s still a bit more to learn in order to get the best experience out of your replaceable-coil Clearomizer, once you decide which one is right for you. Some helpful bits of advice include knowing when to change your coilto avoid foul flavors, how to prime a new coilto get the best flavor possible flowing, and here are a few helpful hints to make sure your coils last as long as possible, saving you money in the long run.
