Chronic Pain, Kratom, and Vaping

Up In Vape

Mark Tim Timblin

Time for another chapter of…Up in Vape!  This week I want to touch on two subjects, two things, two of ‘something’ that are near and dear to my heart… vaping and being disabled, both of which can and do play a huge part in my life. For without the one I probably would be doing something else with the other. I also want to touch upon the use of Kratom in e-juice. This should be an interesting column today.

Chronic Pain and the Disabled

The fact that there are millions of us right here in the US who are disabled and/or living with chronic pain, should not dissuade one from at least trying to enjoy some fashion of a full and enjoyable life.

We have our days, some are bad, some are really bad, and some…well lets just say that sitting and staring at the wall writhing in agony is not high up on my list of fun things to do with your day.  God knows the number of days when I was lucky I was able to do just that and not sit in some catatonic state.

Kratom and e-Juice

Chronic Pain, Kratom, and Vaping Up In Vape Mark Tim Timblin Spinfuel eMagazineWhat I want to write about today are a couple of compounds, (legal compounds…ok?).  The first I have been using for about as long as I have been into ‘rebuilding’ my Dark Horse or Plume Veil Attys.  It is called Kratom. I will link some articles on the net that talk about the good, and maybe not so good effects of using Kratom. But for me, as an additive in e-liquid, it works like nothing else.

Kratom in e-juice can mean a day with ‘noticeably less pain’, or even sleeping more than the 3-4 hours a night, my usual amount.  But, there is some controversy about Kratom, so do your own research before you make up your mind on whether to try it yourself. I am not suggesting that you use Kratom, nor am I recommending it. In fact, you should know that Kratom is currently being looked at, and studied, by the DEA – Then again, vaping and e-liquids are always under attack and we all know the real benefits of vaping and the enormous hard reduction over using tobacco products.

I have only been able to find Kratom in an ejuice online, no one local makes it or sells it. I guess if you get Kratom in a powder form it would be expensive, at least it was… in the past year and a half, maybe two years it may have dropped in price.

I get my Kratom ejuice from the great folks at Good as Gold.  Dorian and the rest of the good people there have been a wealth of information for me and I have thanked them profusely, not just by words, but in ordering their e-juice repeatedly.  They have thanked me by naming one of their juices after me, it is called Mark’s Peanut Butter Sugar Cookie.

Any and all of their e-juices can have Kratom added to it. I have, in the past, probably, went through eight different flavors before my namesake e-juice, (a complete fluke by the way).  Long story, won’t bother you now with it, but it was both humorous and a bit vexing. If you want to read about it, let me know in the comments below.

Remember the word Kratom, Google it, and learn all you can… For myself, it really works well. There may be some controversy out there (when is there not?) , but I would rather use Kratom in vapor form than more opiates.

Hemp Oils

Another product that I have seen but not tried has been the hemp oils. I know about them, I presume from what I have seen that it can, and often is, vaped just like any other ejuice.  It has been months since I have seen it anywhere in our town, and only once or twice at the huge indoor flea market 40 miles or so up I-95.  Another product that I have tried once maybe twice is the CBD oil, I had the opportunity to try the tincture, a ‘couple three’ sprays on your tongue, and it is supposed to help with pain.  I can’t say if it did or it didn’t, at the time I was either in SO much pain that I probably shouldn’t have driven the two miles to the mall, or, I had a lot of narcotic opiate pain killers in me, (again, probably shouldn’t have been on the road).  But when you hurt so damn bad, (those of you who deal with chronic pain know what I’m talking about), you make choices that you have to live with.

Pain

Those times, when the pain is unbearable, it doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do, it just EFFING HURTS!!!  You Chronic Pain, Kratom, and Vaping Up In Vape Mark Tim Timblin Spinfuel eMagazinejust want the pain to go away, only you know it isn’t going to, but you want to be able to do something. Whether its mixing in some Kratom in your e-juice, using Hemp Oils, or anything else, the bottom line is, when the pain comes in monstrous waves that do not cease it can break you.

I suppose the CBD oils, if you aren’t on high doses of narcotics like myself, would probably work well.  Me, I would just as soon blow a bowl, but it isn’t legal here in Florida yet. That’s never stopped me before, but I digress. Read this article called “5 Must-Know Facts About Cannabidiol (CBD)” for some real science behind CBD’s.

Kava

I have heard of another compound/product that I really don’t know squat about as I had just learned about it Friday morning and that afternoon we had to put our 18+ year old cat Rex down. It also rained here pretty much most of yesterday, which was Saturday the 19th. So, you know, not a good weekend.

Anyway, the product I am referring to is called Kava, don’t know shit about it, gonna have to look into it to be sure, but it sounds interesting.

I saw it on Good as Gold’s web site, I believe it was on their homepage, and since I need to place another order with them soon, I will look into it by then. Here’s a link to one of their Kava-infused eliquids.  Perhaps in a future column if I decide to try it and discover what effect it has, as it relates to my favorite additive, Kratom, I’ll write about it.  I like to try as many natural compounds as possible.  I have a Fentanyl Patch I change every 48 hours, and my SCS or Spinal Cord Stimulator are the two main items I rely on for pain control.  Yea, I have my “break-through” meds which consists of 15mg Morphine and 750mg Soma or MethoCarbamol; we all know about morphine, what I have is a morphine sulfate  and I don’t take it as prescribed. If I did, yea….I’d be an effing zombie.

Methocarbamol or the generic Soma is a heavy duty muscle relaxer and the 750mg do well to quell the heavy duty spasms in my low back.

Solutions Are Hard To Find

Whatever circumstance you may be in, be it permanently and totally disabled like myself, or whether you are able to get by on some low level meds, or somewhere in between, in my humble opinion natural is the best way to go, if you can.  Unfortunately, not all of us are able to go that route. Even myself, most of the time, I HAVE to rely on my prescription meds to get through each day.

My use of Kratom, although high, is still used for those days when my pain levels are extremely high, which has been going on for the past six months, maybe longer, it’s hard to pin down the date.  Hopefully now that I have a new SCS Spinal Cord Stimulator my pain levels might start coming down.. “which means exactly what Mark?”  Which means, once I get onto a more even keel and my pain levels have kinda hit the lowest that they will go, I can, and will, rely more and more on Kratom, and quite possibly Kava to help.

Conclusion

Chronic Pain, Kratom, and Vaping Up In Vape Mark Tim Timblin Spinfuel eMagazineSo, guys and gals, are you living with chronic pain, or know someone in your life who is? I want to say that this column is for y’all. If you have ANY suggestions, if you have ANY information about what I have written about above, please include them in the comments section below this column. I know there are millions of us out there, and many of them vape, so let’s get a discussion going.

As I said before, this column is for y’all, if you have any topic that you would like to see in a future column, or if you have seen an error in my writing, please do include that in the comments section as well.  I’ll be the first to admit that I do not know it all.  If I have written about something in error…please bring it to my attention.

Also, if you have any questions about anything that has to do with vaping feel free to ask me.  If I don’t know the answer I will tell you that I don’t know, BUT I will find the answer and include it in a future column.

With that said, it is time to bid you adieu for another week.  Thank you all so VERY much for taking the time to read my column, it is GREATLY appreciated.  Until next time, be well, stay safe, God bless and….VAPE ON!
