It was only in late September of this year that Spinfuel VAPE reviewed the Augvape Skynet Mesh Sub-Ohm Tank. Now, just a little more than 2 months we’re back with a review for the Augvape Skynet PRO Sub-Ohm Tank. One of the best tasting, cloud throwing tanks of 2018 was supplanted in a very short time with this simply incredible PRO version.

Augvape Skynet PRO 25mm Sub-Ohm Tank Review
“ELEMENT

Perhaps Augvape took our review of the original Skynet to heart when we raved about the clouds and the flavor but were somewhat disappointed with its 5.1mL maximum capacity because the Skynet PRO sports a whopping 7.1mL of capacity for your favorite eJuice, and a brand-new Triple Mesh Coil that makes the Skynet PRO an even better sub-ohm tank. And at just $24.95 it makes you wonder why anyone would shell out $30+ for something else.

For instance, as much as we adored the flavor and cloud production of the SMOK Prince (review) and Prince Cobra (review) earlier in the year (the original Prince even won our Best Sub-Ohm last year), the Augvape Skynet PRO is a better high-performance tank, less expensive, and its delicious coils last a helluva lot longer than any SMOK Coil, including their new Mesh Coils.

In fact, the Skynet PRO outperforms its little brother. It’s not just the larger capacity, 2mL more, it’s the extreme flavor fidelity of its mesh coils, the luscious amount of air directed up the through the coils, and its silky-smooth threading that makes removing the top cap (revealing two large fill ports), so easy yet so secure.

Until the arrival of this PRO version of the Skynet I was using the original exclusively. In 2 months’, time I changed the mesh coil only once, honestly and sincerely getting a month’s life out of the mesh coils. It’s only been 14 days vaping the Skynet PRO, but so far, the preinstalled Triple Mesh hasn’t lost one iota of flavor or vapor performance.

Feature Highlights

The original Skynet had a bottom base width of 24mm, the Skynet PRO has a bottom bas width of 25mm. It’s 510-connector screws into every mod I’ve tried with smooth threading and no gap between the base of the tank or top of the mod. I purchased a new Chrome Prism SMOK Mag Grip (review) and slapped a Skynet PRO atop the mod, never bothering to use the SMOK Baby v2, and it looks like it was made for this wide mod.

The PRO comes with two mesh coils; the S2 and the S3. Both perform brilliantly, making the only difference between them is how they are tuned to 65-100W or 90-120W. Both coils will perform exceptionally well with any mod that can output 100W or more. The Skynet PRO proves that 250W or 300W mods are no longer needed for that superior thick flavor and dense room-filling vapor.

The color availability for the Skynet Pro is limited to black, stainless-steel, and a muted rainbow (I cannot recommend the rainbow color). My personal favorite is the black PRO, but I hope that soon Augvape will have the confidence in their sub-ohm tanks to offer the original Skynet and the Skynet Pro in many colors like SMOK does.

Skynet PRO Replacement Coils

When I bought my black Skynet PRO, I also purchased 4 packs of coils. A pack of coils consists of 3 coils, not 5, and for $10.95 I can understand why. Plus, since the coils last so long, is a 5 pack really needed?

The Augvape Skynet PRO Replacement Coils are brilliantly crafted coils with mesh heating elements that create a zone for conducive and ‘even’ heating that causes the coil head to last much longer than most other brands and create densely aromatic clouds other sub-ohms can only dream about.

Vaping with a Skynet PRO

The Skynet V1 didn’t need more than a minute or two before becoming completely primed and delivering 100% flavor and vapor. I found the Skynet PRO coils need an extra minute. Not that it matters, but giving the coils 3 minutes to prime, plus a couple of low wattage draws to break it in, and before you know it you’ve got your vape mod up at 90W and tasting every nuance of flavor and exhaling vapor clouds that will fog up a room in minutes. Do not drive while using this tank, unless the windows are down.

Augvape knows a thing or two about RDA’s and RTA’s, but the Skynet and Skynet Pro are its only two sub-ohm tanks. I think this is why the Skynet tanks are not more well-known. And that is a real shame. As far as I am concerned, the Skynet Tanks are best on the market, and priced far below the competition.

A Leak Warning – As with many high-performance sub-ohm tanks, the Skynet and Skynet PRO can leak. However, the only time they leak is when the mod and tank are not in use, but the airflow slots are left wide-open. For hours it won’t matter, but if the user happens to set aside a mod with a Skynet on top and the airflow slots are wide open, chances are it’s going to leak.

The only other time my Skynet PRO leaked it was my fault; I was in a hurry to get out of the office and I cross threaded the top cap and left for the night. The next morning all the eJuice in the tank leaked out all over the mod and onto my desk. But like I said, that was my fault… user error.

Bottom Line

We are conducting our Best Vape Products of 2018, which we hope to publish by December 11 or 12th, and I am pushing hard for the Skynet PRO to win Best Sub-Ohm Tank of the Year. Even if I am somehow outvoted and it doesn’t win, until something better comes along, I’m not going to stop advocating for these two sub-ohms.

The bottom line is this; the Augvape Skynet PRO is the best cloud maker on the market, delivering the thickest clouds as well as the best flavor you can get from any Mesh Coil tank. There are dozens of great sub-ohm tanks introduced this year, some high profile, some not, but in my book, the Skynet and Skynet PRO cannot be beat; not on flavor, clouds, and especially price.

The Skynet PRO deserves and gets an A+ from this reviewer.
