Aspire Cleito 120

According to the overzealous description on the back of the package, the Aspire Cleito 120 Maxi-Watt (Maximum-Wattage) Tank is so ground-breaking it deserves its own class. Well technically it’s still a Sub-Ohm Tank, but Maxi-Watt Tank sounds more creative and unique!

The Aspire Cleito was and still is a well-respected and widely used Sub-Ohm Tank from vapers old and new. Once I heard the rumors of an upgraded Cleito 120 (the 120 refers to the maximum wattage limit of the coils), it instantly jumped to the top 3 tanks on my must-have list. With triple digit wattage capability, this will directly compete with the monster SMOK TFV8 Cloud Beast and the prior SMOK TFV4 Sub-Ohm Tanks among others. Does the Aspire Cleito 120 live up to the hype and stand up to its competitors? Let’s dive in.

Aspire Cleito 120 Highlights

The Aspire Cleito 120 Maxi-Watt (sounds like the tampon brand at first but obviously doesn’t pertain) 120W Sub-Ohm Tank has some similarities to the original Cleito but injected with steroids! These beastly Clapton coils provide both the heating element and chimney section giving you the same ‘straight from coil‘ draw as before. Having the ability to surpass the 100W mark is stepping the Cleito 120 into the power league of Atomizers and can handle the full 120W plus, even when chain vaping! Granted, I almost passed out from the nicotine overdose but it had to be done. (Reviewing vape gear is a sacrifice, after all)

A cloud chucker by day and flavor giant by night, the Aspire Cleito 120 will exceed your vaping expectations. With the clouds blowing like a fog machine, the flavor was right there from beginning of the inhale to well after the exhale. This tank, this vape experience, isn’t going to be for the casual Vaper though; I recommend buying the first Cleito if you prefer a more subtle and great tasting eJuice experience. But if you’re a Power Vaper like me, the Aspire Cleito 120 will deliver and get the job done!

Aspire Cleito 120 Specs

The Aspire Cleito 120 is a 25mm (25.4mm around the bottom airflow ring) Sub-Ohm Tank made of lightweight (fully assembled tank with eJuice weighs only 49g) 304 Stainless Steel. Designed and manufactured by Eigate in China, I received the Black version and will be adding the also available Stainless Steel variation soon. The top-fill system differs from the Cleito with a removable, combined drip tip and top cap section revealing a single fill slot versus dumping eJuice between the coil and the chimney like the first Cleito. Even with a 4ml eJuice capacity, the Cleito 120 drinks your liquid up quickly at higher wattages so have a backup bottle ready to reload. The top cap and the 15mm wide bore drip tip, being one solid piece, is made of all-Delrin and has a huge rubber gasket underneath to keep everything sealed nice and tight. Some provided deep knurling along with nicely machined threads makes removing and installing the top section easy-peasy lemon-squeezy!

The bottom adjustable airflow has triple 10.8mm x 2mm slots with a nice offset pattern providing plenty of grip. The airflow ring slides with very little effort but still has enough tension to stay in place once adjusted. The ring spins around 360° and doesn’t have any stoppers in either position. The amount of airflow is fantastic! I turn mine down about halfway when vaping under 80W and wide open above that. The 510 pin is 24k gold-plated so making a solid connection will never be an issue. The Cleito 120 has screwed on to any device I attached it to which sat flush and performed every time. A small Aspire engraving lines the bottom of the tank section and with a full tank of eJuice, the specifications and branding on the coil can easily be seen through the glass.

The 0.16Ω Maxi-Watt Clapton coil structure replaces the static chimney giving you direct airflow from the coil and straight to the lungs. These coils are enormous at 40mm tall (same as the first Cleito) and 3mm bigger than the previous Cleito at 15.5mm in total diameter. For comparison purposes, the SMOK TFV8 Q4 Quadruple coil is 18mm in diameter and the TFV4 T8 coil is 15.8mm; like I said it’s large. One Cleito 0.16Ω coil comes preinstalled and an extra is included in the package along with an Orange Aspire Vape Band and a replacement glass section (the packaging mimics the first Cleito exactly). It has a large 6.8mm ID Clapton coil (6.7mm ID on the TFV8 Q4) tucked into organic cotton with triple 10mm x 3mm wicking slots. The recommended wattage range is 100W-120 imprinted on the coil itself but a range of 60W-120W would be more in line with the true wattage capabilities.

The spit back protection ring that covers the coil and cotton has a neat design that reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers logo or 6-Star Wheels my friend had on his car when I was younger; the sharp edges looks sweet when looking through the drip tip! Primed the coil with a few drops between each triangle on the top of the coil and got no gurgling or spit back through the duration of the review. You’ll get the normal snap, crackle and popping when left idle and also at higher wattages. The first 3-4 pulls was harsh but ceased quickly by working my way up in 10W increments and getting a nice warm vape right between 80W-90W. Even though the Aspire Cleito 120 is marketed as a maximum wattage tank, I was able to really have a great vaping experience as low as 50W and as high as 140W (with a brand new, freshly broken in coil). It’s a very versatile tank/coil combo and will suit anyone’s vaping preferences.

The Aspire Cleito 120 will give the SMOK TFV8 some stiff but realistic competition. The plumes were immediate with very little vaping effort. The drip tip goes from warm to hotter territory at 100W plus but not uncomfortably hot. The 100W setting was a perfect vape for my style and even though the vapor does get hot when chain vaping, right at 100W-110W, the vapor and flavor is truly phenomenal! From a freshly broken in coil, you can push it past the limit up towards 150W but the tank glass, drip tip and vapor were a little too hot for my liking. If pushing your devices to the breaking point is your forte, the Cleito 120 will give you a respected run for your money. You’ll notice some condensation underneath the coil, nothing substantial, but the drip tip stays surprisingly dry throughout.

Another feature that was religiously advertised was the ability to use Max VG eJuice and still have no problems with it wicking properly. This statement is one hundred percent accurate as I used a 99% VG blend (Churrios by The Milkman, available at Element Vape) and the cotton soaked and stayed saturated through high wattage vaping, never receiving a dry or burnt hit. Longevity of the coil was impressive and is where Aspire outshines SMOK’s Taste Flavor (TFV4 & TFV8) Tanks. I’ve been running the same coil over a week solid at 90-100W with no sign of muting flavor or reduced vapor production. The O-rings and seals do their job since I’ve had zero leaking issues with the Cleito 120. I’ll save the second included coil for a rainy day; which rarely happens here in California!

Trying to find negatives for the Aspire Cleito 120 was the only hard part of this particular review. I enjoy finding issues and negatives to let the readers know the truth behind the mask. You’ll go through a lot of eJuice so unless you stay below the 60W mark, plan on refilling often. The price for a 5-pack of replacement coils are $20 and is a higher price point compared to some coils (but still cheaper than the TFV8 Cloud Beast coils). But the life, vapor and flavor these coils produce, it’s worth the extra maintenance cost. And the last subjective con for me is no RTA coil head available at the moment. Since I loved the Cleito RTA the first time around, which I still use here and there, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope Aspire makes it happen soon!

Final Grade – A

For $25.95 at Element Vape, I wouldn’t hesitate for one second on recommending the Aspire Cleito 120! The wattage range is suited perfectly for vapers looking to get into higher-powered Atomizers but advanced enough to hit triple digits and blow clouds until your hearts content! Aspire did an excellent job creating a monster Maxi-Watt Sub-Ohm Tank that performs to the highest standards and is definitely a competitor for the Top Atomizer of 2016!
