The Innokin Lily – For Women Only

The following review is for woman only. Unless you’re a man looking to get your wife, girlfriend, mother, sister, daughter, a personal vaporizer, this review isn’t for you. That might sound sexist, but SCRAM!

Okay ladies, it’s just you and me…The only electronic cigarettes I’ve known from Innokin are the various iTaste devices. I have used them all, and I like them all, for the most part, and for a multitude of reasons. Naturally, when I was picked to review the Innokin Lily I said yes immediately, without even knowing anything about it. Afterward, I did begin to wonder about it, mainly because it didn’t carry the iTaste moniker. So I peeked. I looked it up on Innokin’s website to see what exactly I had said yes to, days before it arrived. (It came directly from our friends at Innokin)

The first thing I can tell you about the Innokin Lily is that photographs do not do it justice. It is such a beautifully made device, with graceful touches throughout that it is more like a fine luxury pen then an electronic vaping device. And, it’s definitely made for a girl.

The color I will be writing about is the blue one, or rather, Ultramarine.

The Un-Boxing

My Innokin Lily arrived in a shrink-wrapped white box with a pretty sketch of, what else, lilies. There are purple lines that are made to resemble ribbon wrapped around a gift box, along with the Innokin logo and the word Lily in a nice cursive script.

Removing the wrapping and opening the box reveals a wonderful matching user manual, with the same “Lily” in cursive script and the flowers, only this time they are all in an embossed silver ink. The manual text is also a cursive font, in light purple, and only in English.

The manual includes a proper authorization number that you use to make sure that the Lily you are holding in your hands is indeed a real Innokin Lily. I guess the vaporizer is already being counterfeited, but after going to their website and typing in the authorization number I was assured that my Lily was genuine. Whew!

The Innokin Lily has tons of modern features, which I’ll get to later, but for now I want to stay with the physical aspect of the vaporizer. After all, the ‘looks’ are what will sell it, or kill it, on the marketplace.

Physical Characteristics

 Swarovski Elements

On the outside of the box Innokin mentions that the vaporizer is Made With Swarovski Elements. I’ve never heard the name before, (Julia did, and teased me about it) and surprisingly Microsoft Word has because as I typed it out it did not warn me that I had misspelled the word. Seeing that, I stopped what I was doing, set the vaporizer and box to the side and Googled it.

Here’s what I found:

SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS is the premium brand for the finest crystals manufactured by Swarovski. The designers’ choice since the founding of the company in 1895, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS provides creative talents from the world of fashion, jewelry, accessories, interior design and lighting with the latest on-trend crystal innovations.

These precious ingredients can be recognized through the ‘MADE WITH SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS’ label, which serves as a certificate of authenticity.

Well now, that is something, isn’t it?

The Swarovski crystals run around the band in the middle of the battery, separating the battery from the top half of the device, where the atomizer/cartridge/drip tip live. The band is affixed to the top half of the vaporizer, not the battery.

Inside the box there is an extra top half, same color (blue), sans the Swarovski crystals. I imagine that’s just in case a man wants to use the vaporizer, or maybe a less feminine woman? Me? I LOVED it; I plan on taking very special care of it so I won’t have to use the extra one without the crystals. The Innokin Lily – A Girls Best Friend?

Last thing I’ll say about the crystals is this; they do not look cheap. They are set in what appears to be high-quality metal band. The Lily is the first ‘girl vaporizer’ that doesn’t turn this girl off.

The battery (350mAh) itself is a matte-black finish, with more blue ink sketching of the Lily flowers and stems. Gorgeous! The tip of the battery lights up, and the light shines through a lily shaped clear plastic dome. I hate to use the word plastic because it looks as good as glass, but I don’t think it would be made of glass. In any case, the light shining through the Lily is soft and sweet.

Lastly, in the physical characteristics department, is the top half of the vaporizer. At first glance the top half looks very much like a writing pen.  I have the blue model, so the entire top half is solid blue, a pretty shade of blue, neither to light or too dark. (Ultramarine)

At the very top, running about an inch long, is the actual drip tip. It’s removable, but not in the way that allows you to use another type of drip tip. It can be removed in order to be cleaned, or cleared of thick juice, but that’s about it. The drip tip fits snugly, with no possible way of falling off. You would have to pull it off with a slight twist and straight back pull; it’s not going anywhere. The O-Rings are embedded well to secure a nice tight fit.

What Makes It Go

Vaping SystemInnokin Lily uses a VCAPS System, which is an atomizer/cartridge coupling that fits inside the top blue half of the vaporizer.

The capacity of the cartridge is not nearly as much as you imagine it could be by looking at the top half of the device. There is a lot of wasted space in order to build the ‘look’ of the Lily.

Innokin admits to just 70-90 puffs per cartridge fill-up, so if you vape like I do you’ll spend a lot of time filling and refilling. But you know what? I didn’t mind, not really. Sure I’d love to say that Innokin used all the available space in the top half and that it could hold 3-4ML of e juice, but it just doesn’t. I can’t find anything on Innokin’s website or the literature I have here that will tell me how much liquid the cartridge can hold, but if I had to guess I’d say no more than .7-. 8ML. If I were told that the cartridge I’m looking at right now held .6ML I wouldn’t blink an eye. Then again, I don’t believe the Lily is made for full-time use by a serious vaper, which I’ll soon explain.

The atomizer is the same size as the cartridge, and they come already put together, atomizer and cartridge. You do get a pack of them, 5 attys and cartridge’s in a blister pack. The resistance of the atomizer is 1.5-ohms. The battery is unregulated so fully charged we’re starting with 3.5v, and as you take your first drag from the Lily that output is going to drop, probably in the 3.1 to 3.2v area. The combination of a low-ohm atty and 3.5v is decent enough, but you have to keep in mind the Lily isn’t made to compete against a cloud-chaser. It outperforms any and every cig-a-like you’ll find, and every disposable as well, but it won’t come close to an eGo/Spinner and Johnson Creek Vea experience, despite the Vea pushing out 2.8v against a 2-ohm cartomizer.

Before I get to the real world experience of actually vaping with a Lily, I will say that although the specs of the atty/cartridge combo won’t be cause for celebration by serious vapers, it is a very competent device for the class it runs with.

The Real World

So, what’s it like to vape with a Lily? Can you get a satisfying vape going?

I found the Lily to be a lovely vaporizer, putting out a lovely vape. Imagine you were the type of smoker who enjoyed Virginia Slims, or used a long cigarette holder , where fashion was more important than thick clouds of smoke. If you can imagine that you can imagine what vaping with a Lily is like.

The Innokin Lily puts out an accurate taste, the 3 flavors I used during my testing phase we’re flavors I vape all the time, and they tasted as good as ever. You won’t be disappointed with the flavor throughput.

The Innokin Lily – A Girls Best Friend?I’ve been vaping for nearly two years now and I’ve used many different vaporizers in that time. So I think I can safely say that I believe Innokin made the Lily as a part-time vaporizer, not to be used around the clock as your sole vaporizer. Having said that, I imagine some women who were light smokers or who vape now but not all-day like I do, might be able to use the Lily as an all day vaporizer. Although I like it, and I mean I really like it, there’s just no way I’d be happy vaping with just a Lily as my only vaporizer.

The Lily is more fashion than vaping. It’s not built for people that want huge clouds of vapor, or for that matter, for people that want to take long 20-second pulls from it. It is made for this…

To vape…elegantly…

If you’re a woman and you want to vape in a feminine fashion the Lily will give you that. I know I’ll probably upset a few people with this remark, but there are some “girls”, like myself, that want very much to be “ultra-feminine” at times, and the Lily fills the job as ‘the’ vaporizer for those times.

A few days a week I want nothing more than to put on my laciest panties, silk stocking (not pantyhose!), high heel shoes, and a slinky dress, and just bathe in the light of being utterly female. I’ll put on my most feminine clothes and my favorite earrings, necklace, rings, and bracelets, and just be a woman. It feels great to give in to that yearning to be what I am, a girl.

In the past the one thing that could, and sometimes would, spoil the fun of being Super Girl is my vaporizer. You know what I mean. You’re all dressed up, you feel great, feminine and girly, and your significant other is fawning all over you, and you’re loving every minute of it, but then you feel like a good vape and you reach for your… iTaste VTR or SVD or some other big battery and big tank and the whole ‘look’ falls apart. I can’t tell you how many times I so desperately wanted to vape but refused to because doing so would have spoiled the mood.

That won’t happen again, and it doesn’t have to happen with you either. The Lily is my latest fashion accessory, and fits that ‘look’ I’m trying to put together, and it can for you too.

Before I give you the important specs of the Lily, I’ll end this portion of the review with this…

The Innokin Lily is pretty. It is elegant (for an e-cigarette), and it is the perfect accessory as a vaporizer when you’re dressed up, or down, in the girlish way only you know how to do.

There is nothing manly about the Innokin Lily. You can compete with any man when it comes to cloud chasing when you haul out your iTaste MVP, or VTR or any other vaporizer that a man will use, just don’t even try with the Lily.  There is nothing girly about regular vaporizers, and you know it, and you’re probably fine with it. I am too, most of the time. But when I want something frilly, I can now have it.

Remember the times when you would spend hours getting ready for a date, or that night when you and your new love interest were going to take that leap into the world of love and lust? You wouldn’t want to spoil the evening by pulling out a man-sized vaporizer, would you? You want something that is going to match the way you feel, the way you look, and especially the way you want that special someone to see you. For moments like that you want a Lily.

The Lily is a vaporizer for the girl inside all of us, and it’s about time a company took that seriously.

Bottom Line?

For looks, features, price, and quality it gets a big A+. For the quality of the vape, including vapor production and throat hit, it gets a C.  If you’re looking for the perfect vaping accessory that doesn’t inflict damage upon the female mystique this is it.
