FlavorMonster – A Spinfuel eLiquid Team Review
For Vapers that enjoy dripping eLiquids FlavorMonster is becoming a ‘favored’ brand. Well, for certain dripper anyway. Strong flavors, clean taste, lots of vapor production for cloud chasing, and most of all, a real dedication to the art of eliquids. However, unlike many dripper brands FlavorMonster offers a 50/50 PG/VG blend, not a PG-Free or High-VG blend…though that will change soon when they introduce a 70/30 VG/PG line.
For the Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team, this was a review we really enjoyed working on because flavor was key.
FlavorMonster is, well, a brand new company actually. Launched in June 2014, just 3 months ago, they offer five flavors, 4 of which are available in what I like to call “drippers nic-levels” of 0mg, 3mg, and 6mg, only, and one eliquid at 0mg, 12mg, and 18mg, their only tobacco flavor. FlavorMonster also offers a single bottle size, for now, and that’s 15ML, for a very low $5.99 per bottle. Our team was surprised to see such a low price for these high quality dripping liquids.

FlavorMonster – The Review
Dripping or not? – Although 4 out of 5 of the flavors reviewed were dripped by the team they can certainly be enjoyed through any other means provided the nicotine level is in line with what you normally vape. Flavor in all 5 are strong, very strong while dripping, so they certainly do come through with Aerotanks, Nautiluses, and even clearomizers and cartomizers. The only part of the vape that is significantly less while vaping without a dripper is the throat hit. Dripping a 3mg or 6mg nicotine juice is going to provide a wicked throat hit, while vaping the same nicotine strength with an Aerotank fixed with a 1.6 or 1.8ohm coil will not provide a strong throat hit. So, while the urge is certainly there to call them dripping ejuices, they will vape fine in other devices.
I provided the team with various dripping atomizers and 5 coils each, all wrapped for 1.2-1.3ohms. These atomizers were used on several mechanical and VV/VW vaporizers.
All but the last eliquid; the Wendigo’s Tobacco, were dripped by the team. We received Wendigo’s Tobacco in 12mg nicotine, so we vaped this flavor in Aerotanks.
Commonalities – Each of the eliquids are 50/50 blends. What this means for drippers is a very intense flavor and good, but not incredible vapor production. Cloud chasers who care more about the clouds than the flavor might enjoy these more than they think, but will need to make some adjustments to their vapor expectations. 50% VG is not All-VG, so don’t expect the kind of clouds like a brand like Mythos would provide, but don’t be surprised that the intense flavor of these ejuices is stronger than Mythos. The keyword here is “flavor”. Flavor first, last, and always…that’s FlavorMonster in a nutshell.
I don’t know about you, but I could give up a little vapor production for intense flavors.
#1 – Sagari Serenade – “A Sagari is a seductive spirit monster from Japan, with the head of a horse, a flap of giant skin, and an appendage like that of a human arm. They are said to be created when a docile horse dies underneath a large tree. These masters of deception lure their prey into the woods with the neighing sound of a horse before launching an attack from above. Seeing a Sagari is believed to be an omen, and while we would like to assume it’s an omen of great things to come, the veracity of this creature leads us to believe otherwise. Here at FlavorMonster, however, the sight of a Sagari just so happens to be an omen of a great flavor hinted with strawberry and lemonade. This flavor will lure you in, but unlike the Sagari you’ll be jumping for Joy, not sprinting like hell fire to escape its deliciousness.”
Tom: This is a nicely balance blend of strawberry and lemonade. It’s not very original, but it is still a good vape, especially when used in an RDA. I was interested in comparing the flavor strength when vaping with an RDA and a plain 510 cartomizer and found the flavor to be excellent in the cartomizer and even more so in the RDA, naturally. That said, this could be an all-day-vape for the 6mg or 3mg vapers, and if offered in higher nic levels it could be an excellent vape for any vaper. We’ve had similar flavors, but that doesn’t work against the score. 4.25 Stars
Julia: I found myself wishing this strawberry and lemonade juice was available at 18mg because it really is a great tasting juice. While I certainly enjoy using RDA’s, especially when I don’t have to wrap the coil or attach it to the atomizer, I could dig vaping it in everyday clearomizers and tanks. Strong flavor, excellent vapor, and a wicked throat hit in the RDA. 4 Stars
Jason: I’ll admit that I enjoyed the strawberry/lemonade flavor, and with an RDA the intensity of 6mg nicotine can punch you in the throat, but I found Sagari just a little too sweet for all day vaping. As a dripping eliquid it performs well, but I’m just not thrilled with a lemony vape. 4 Stars
Keira: I don’t get the chance to use an RDA very often so this entire review was special for me. I loved it, and I loved almost all the flavors here. This strawberry lemon vape was intense and the vapor remarkable, though not as much as a high-VG would be. $5.99 for 15ML for these eliquids is a fantastic deal. 4.5 Stars
#2 – Baku Brownies – A Spinfuel Choice Award Winner – “Baku are Japanese supernatural beings that devour dreams and nightmares. They have a long history in Japanese folklore and art, and more recently have appeared in Japanese anime and manga. An early 17th-century Japanese manuscript describes the Baku as a shy, Chinese mythical chimera with an elephant’s trunk, rhinoceros eyes, an ox tail, and tiger paws. Here at FlavorMonster, we are driven by dreams, both the night and day variety. So any monster that devours dreams certainly earns a spot on our Monster Hall of Fame. Like the Baku, this delicious flavor flirts on the edge of supernatural, but with its delectable Kahlua infused brownie flavor, it seeks to haunt your dreams, not devour them. However, there is only one way to know for sure!”
Note* As a rule we really don’t concern ourselves with the aroma of an eliquid. Some of the best eliquids have a completely different “smell” over the flavor. In this case, the aroma coming from the bottle smells like you’re standing next to your mom as she prepares her special brownies on Sunday.
Tom: I was NOT ready for the intensity of this incredible flavor. FlavorMonster produced a dripping eliquid that gives an amazing fidelity to a real fudge brownie without a bit of the harsh, hard chocolate that could easily ruin a flavor like this. I couldn’t get enough of it and had I some unflavored nicotine I might have added it so it I could enjoy it in a glassomizer. If you like brownie this will knock you on your butt. This one produced more vapor than I thought it would too. 5 Stars
Julia: A sensational flavor, this brownie flavored eliquid is just about perfect. I mean, it tastes just like brownies. The flavor is very strong without being harsh, with deep brownie characteristics from start to finish. I loved it, in an RDA and in an Aerotank. Despite the low nicotine (I vape 18mg) I found myself vaping it for hours. When I vaped with an RDA I was shocked at how much flavor could be packed into a single drag from a wide-mouth drip tip. Outstanding! 5 stars
Jason: This is a Kahlua Brownie flavor that will feel like its melting in your mouth. It will drench you in pure brownie goodness, whether it was vaped in an RDA or a tank. I cannot tell you how much the flavor impressed me. My only concern is some vapers may want more vapor than flavor and will seek out a higher VG juice. I would urge them not to dismiss a 50/50 drip juice for tasting this brownie magic. This one proves the viability of dripping for flavor over vapor, and I completely understood how it makes perfect sense. Great clouds, but even greater flavor is the reason I award this 5 Stars
Keira: All of these eliquids have strong flavors so I really wanted to vape them in higher nicotine levels. However, with this incredible brownie flavor I got a very good throat hit despite the 6mg nicotine. In an RDA it almost knocked me on my butt. If you like the flavor of a real fudge brownie this is a must try ejuice. 5 Stars

FlavorMonster Khalkotauroi – “The Khalkotauroi (pronounced Kal-cuh-tori) are mythical monsters that appear in the Greek story of Jason and the Golden Fleece. They are two radical bulls with bronze hooves, and bronze mouths that spew giant, life ending plumes of smoke and fire. In Greek Mythology, a fearlessly badass hero named Jason is promised the prized Khalkotauroi fleece by King Aeetes if he can capture and enslave this majestic, beasty duo. Jason survived the burning flames of the bronze bulls by smoking in a magical potion that protected him from the heat. Here at FlavorMonster we have ruthlessly bottled this magic potion. With Red Bull type flavors, this deliciousness will give you all the energy you need to conquer life’s own Khalkotaurois. However, we do not recommend slavery of these fire breathing, brassed behemoths, they’re better off left alone! WARNING: This flavor DOES NOT contain Bull Urine.”
Nicotine – 0mg, 3mg, 6mg Red BullTom: Like I’ve said in other reviews for ‘energy drink’ flavors, they are not a selling point for me. I would not add this flavor to my rotation or collection. However, if you do like these types of eliquids then you will be happy with this one. It tastes so much like an actual Red Bull that you can almost feel the carbonation. It’s kinda weird. For getting the flavor right, and for providing a powerful dripping ejuice, I’ll give it 4 Stars
Julia: Definitely has that energy drink taste to it. I rather liked it, especially in an RDA. That Red Bull flavor is so strong it’s like a concentrated version of the drink. I vaped this one in a Nautilus Mini for a while and decided that if you like Red Bull eliquids this could be your next all-day-vape. Nicely done! 4.5 Stars
Jason: An energy drink eliquid can be fun to vape for a while, and having a 15ML bottle around for times when you need the illusion of pick-me-up, a Red Bull flavor can do the trick. However, even though I enjoyed it, especially in an RDA, it just isn’t different enough from all the others to say that it’s an above average ejuice.
Keira: Although I kind of liked this one enough to add it to my collection for times when I wanted an energy drink flavor, I don’t think there is enough originality to warrant switching to this one if you already have a Red Bull flavor you like. I did like the intense flavor through an RDA, and the vapor was nicer than expected, so maybe it comes down to price. $5.99 for 15ML for a quality eliquid is a good reason to buy it. I’m going with that. 4 Stars
#4 – Pandora’s Peach – “Commissioned by Zeus, Pandora was the first female created, and was bestowed gifts from every god. This goddess was created from the earth itself, with her curiosity leading her to opening the poetic box she is known for. With this, she launched a missile of evil on the very earth that granted her powers beyond measure. Much like her, Pandora’s Peach was created from fruits of the earth, but we hardly claim it to have gifts granted from the gods. With all evil eliminated from this liquid, what’s left is nothing less than a great flavor with a world class taste. Try it and see for yourself!”
Tom: This is a really good peach flavor. Reminds me of a good peach cobbler more than a fresh peach. This one has depth, plenty of vapor, and incredible flavor through an RDA. After a while I tried it in a normal clearomizer just to see how much stronger the flavor is in an RDA and while it’s a lot stronger I found the flavor in the clearomizer to be excellent. I would definitely vape this one at 18mg if it was available. 4.25 Stars
Julia: During our discussion phase of the review I don’t think anyone talked about complexity. This peach ejuice is a perfect example of why we didn’t. The peach flavor is really good, sweet and very peachy, and there isn’t any layers or flavors interfering with its mission to deliver a good peach vape. Good vapor, couple with excellent flavor, this is a solid 4.25 Stars
Jason: When I tell you that I don’t think this one is an authentic, fresh peach eliquid I mean that as a compliment (on this occasion). Pandora’s Peach is a deep, sweet peach flavor with an abundance of vapor and flavor. Out of all the peach flavors I’ve had in various eliquids I put this one in the top 5. If you haven’t dripped a sweet peach flavor juice before this is the one to try. Talk about flooding your taste buds with peachy goodness! 4.5 Stars
Keira: I liked Pandora’s Peach, but I’m not in love with it. To me, this is a very good flavor to drip, but I’ve tasted it many times before. It’s not complicated, but it does the job. The 50/50 blend of PG and VG provide plenty of flavor and vapor, and if it was available in higher nicotine levels I think it would sell well. As dripping eliquid the flavor is very intense and the vapor is better than a 50/50 blend would indicate. 4.25 Stars
Wendigo’s Tobacco – “The Wendigo is a demonic half-beast creature appearing in the legends of the Algonquian peoples along the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes Region of both the United States and Canada. This terrifying creature-spirit is described as malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural beings of great spiritual power and could either possess characteristics of a human or a monster that had physically transformed from a person. It is particularly associated with cannibalism. Transforming into a Wendigo features symptoms such as an intense craving for human flesh and a fear the sufferer is a cannibal. Like the Wendigo, FlavorMonster’s Tobacco is supernatural, sweet to the point of malevolence, yet hardly cannibalistic…you’re welcome! With a vanilla, caramel and slight oak flavor profile, you’ll be sure to love this flavor!”
Tom: Unfortunately I did not bother to check the nicotine level of the bottle we received so I vaped with a dripper for the first drag. I nearly ripped my throat out. 12mg nicotine in a deep vanilla/caramel tobacco is way to high for dripping…for me anyway. I wound up using a glassomizer for the remaining time with it. As a tobacco eliquid is okay, but it’s not up to the same levels of complexity that I’ve had in other tobacco flavors that come from brands that specialize in tobacco flavors. Still, you do get plenty of tobacco flavors with nicely done notes of vanilla and caramel. 3 Stars
Julia: Vaping Wendigo’s Tobacco reminded me of an almost musky, nutty tobacco with hints of vanilla and deep caramel notes. For me, using an Aerotank, my first taste was a nutty tobacco… and it finished up with light vanilla and caramel on the tail end. Altogether a very decent tobacco blend, with plenty of flavor and vapor. I would definitely vape more of this. 4.5 Stars
Jason: Tom and I strongly disagreed over this tobacco blend. I loved its nutty flavors with just wisp’s of vanilla and caramel on the exhale. Very deep flavors, lots of vapor, Wendigo’s Tobacco is a must try for tobacco vapers. 4.75 Stars
Keira: The flavors in the lower nicotine eliquids in this review are all incredibly intense and deliver an excellent vape on the whole. Maybe it was using RDA’s or maybe it was a combination of RDA’s and high flavor percentages, but they all blew away Wendigo’s Tobacco. I found this tobacco flavor to be sort of muted in a clearomizer, and only after bumping up the voltage way past the math did it seem to come alive, but then the throat hit was almost too much. I’m not a great tobacco aficionado anyway, so if Tom or Jason says it’s a good one, I trust their judgment. I think if the vanilla were a bit more present and the caramel a bit less present I would have liked it more than I did. 3 Stars
Conclusion
FlavorMonster have craved out a niche of drippers who vape for flavor more than cloud chasing, although the cloud chasing is certainly there. Some brands of dripping juices prefer high VG or PG free formulas, and they provide tons of clouds and weaker flavors. In the end, it’s your preference that counts. I’m all about flavor, always have been. The team members are also flavor “monsters” themselves, so we preferred the intense flavor in the RDA’s to the clouds. FlavorMonster is on to something here.
Hand’s down the best eliquid of the 5 was the Baku Brownies, one of the best brownie flavors we’ve ever had. This is the one that will sell you on FlavorMonster, if you like brownies. Despite the nature of a deep and intense brownie flavor, Baku was easily enjoyable for several hours at a stretch.
The Pandora’s Peach was voted our 2nd favorite, and it is one that we would all vape regularly. Sweet peach flavor and plenty of vapor positions Pandora’s Peach as an excellent flavor for dripping and vaping in glassomizers.
Changes?
FlavorMonster should consider offering these eliquids in higher nicotine levels. We understand that they are primarily an eliquid brand for drippers, and the low nicotine levels are plenty when using an RDA. But, when we tried them in other atomizers we found they delivered on every level except throat hits. If you normally vape 3mg or 6mg than you should not shy away from vaping these eliquids in clearomizers or glassomizers.
Buying Advice
Buying advice is easy for these FlavorMonster eliquids. They sell one size, for now, and the price is $5.99 for 15ML. You can’t beat that, and you would be denying yourself a great vaping opportunity if you passed it up.
Of course, if your nicotine needs are higher than 6mg and you don’t want to use an RBA/RDA then you probably won’t want to buy into these flavors. But if you’ve been thinking about jumping in the RDA part of the vape community you won’t find a more affordable line at the quality this brand delivers.
