The Mt Baker Vapor eLiquid Review – A Sequel

Our first review of Mt Baker Vapor drew so much attention that a sequel was “greenlit” within the first week of the publication date of the original. It was inevitable. (November 12th, 2012)

We strongly suggest that if you have not yet read the first review you do so before reading this one. The reason? The selection of flavors in this sequel consists of less ‘mainstream’ flavors and more niche flavors. When you offer more than 200 flavors you’re bound to come up with some that will have fewer fans, or at least fewer opportunities to vape these less mainstream blends. That doesn’t take anything away from the quality of the eLiquid however, far from it. It simply means that for newbie Vaper these flavors might not be the best eLiquids to start off with. But like anything else, I could be wrong.

Mt Baker Vapor has a very large fan base. People’s opinion of MBV is either incredibly positive or indifferent; we couldn’t find anyone who disliked Mt Baker Vapor. From the vast number of flavors to their ‘below wholesale’ pricing, Mt Baker Vapor’s fans are like an army of loyalists, and the Vapers that seem indifferent have an almost begrudgingly neutral opinion. It’s like they want to say something nice about the company but for one reason or another they want, or need, to play the part of a contrarian instead. You know the type.

A Little Recap If You Please…

MBV offers three (3) bottle sizes, 15ML, 30ML, and 50ML. The base price for their 15ML size is $4.99 ($5.99 for the Signature Line), a 30ML bottle will set you back a mere $7.49, and the large 50ML size will lighten your wallet by $10.99. (The 50ML price has increased by 60 cents since our first review). As you can imagine, MBV probably sells more 50ML bottles than 30ML.

Nicotine levels remain the same as before; 0MG, 6MG, 12MG, 18MG, 24MG and a whopping 36MG. While in the November review we selected 18MG as the standard nic-level we have, as a group, lowered our nicotine level to 12MG. We continue to buy certain flavors from MBV on a regular basis and can say with some assurance that MBV eLiquids suffer no degradation in flavor at lower nicotine levels.

Customers can choose up to 5 extra ‘shots’ of flavoring (25 cents per), and the PG/VG ratios are abundant, 100% PG, 80/20 PG, 65/35, 50/50, 20/80, and 70% VG and 30% Distilled Water. MBV also offers a “Max VG” option, which takes the VG level up as high as they believe it can go without destroying the consistency of the flavors. With options like this you can pretty much custom design your eLiquids. Note* When someone from Spinfuel places an order with MBV they order a 50/50 PG/VG blend and 1 extra shot of flavoring. We found that MBV at 50/50 is a great blend for use in Tanks, both cartomizer based and wick based.

The eLiquids obtained for this review were all 80/20 PG/VG. The mix date was 1/24/13. The vaping period for the Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team was February 8th, 9th, and 10th. Each eLiquid had reached full flavor by the time we began our 72-hour vaping. During that time, MBV eLiquids were the only eLiquids used by the team.

 The Team And The Hardware

All the hardware used in the review was purchased from MyVaporStore, Spinfuel’s official supplier of vaping supplies.

Julia Barnes (me) – Lead writer – ZMAX Rev 2 and a Joyetech eVic

Jason Little – Lambo 4 and a Joyetech eVic

Tom McBride – VAMO

Keira Hartley – ProVari mini

Jon Locke – Provari

Because the eLiquid delivery device (cartomizer, clearomizer, etc.) can make a big difference in the taste, vapor production and throat hit, each of us was issued the same devices this time around. They were:

Boge 510 SR (Standard Resistance) Cartomizers

Boge 510 LR (Low Resistance) Cartomizers

Kanger EVOD, MT3, T3 (with ego to 510 adapters)

Various Tanks (using dual coil and single coil cartomizers)

STV Vivi Nova’s (both 2.4 and 2.8 ohm)

The Review

Vaping satisfaction and enjoyment differs because of the nearly unlimited factors involved. For instance, your favorite flavor and/or blend might taste completely different in the morning, as your ‘wake up’ vape, then in the mid-afternoon, evening, social setting, or so forth. When you adopt a particular flavor, blend, and supplier you can learn pretty quickly when, where, and how you vape your favorite flavors. These factors need to be taken into consideration during reviews like ours.

The 72-hour vaping duration helps us discover the true nature of a particular flavors. We make every attempt to vape each flavor under a wide variety of circumstances so that we can give you our honest feedback.

Clearly taste is subjective, but reading the ‘opinions’ of a 5-member panel hopefully gives you enough information to decide whether or not you want to try that flavor or pass on it. Finding the one or more member(s) of the panel who have similar likes and dislikes as your own enhances the chances that you will discover a great new flavor to add to your rotation. Don’t rely on the Star Rating alone, read the comments I’ve selected from the team members.

The notes I am given by the team, along with the amount of time we spend in a group environment talking about the company, the flavors, and the vaping circumstances is a hundred times more than what I distill and present in the review. What you read are the comments that I hope will give you the most insight into the team members and their relationship with the eLiquid flavors. It sounds more complicated than it is, just know that each comment is there for a reason.

How We Score

Each member of team gives the lead writer, in this case me, his or her own scores and are then added up and averaged. Team members can use any number or fraction of a number from 1 to 5. Individual scores like 3.87 or 4.62 are collected and averaged. We wind up or down to the nearest ‘quarter point

Components – We score for the following characteristics; flavor intensity and accuracy (F), vapor production (V), an initial throat hit (T), complexity (C), and success, or presence, of flavor nuances (N).

Look for the following under each member’s comments:

F: (flavor) V: (vapor production) T: (throat hit) C: (complexity) N: (nuance)

An excerpt from an upcoming Spinfuel Feature…

Initial Throat Hit – We can no longer give as much credence to ‘throat hit’ as we once did. A throat hit, accurately described, is akin to that first drag of an analog cigarette after an extended period of time between cigarette breaks. For instance, the first cigarette of the day is often the best cigarette of the day because of the ‘hit’ in the throat being at its most powerful. As the day progresses that throat hit lessens until it disappears.

The same is true for vaping. While we do score for that initial throat hit, we also change flavors often enough that the initial throat hit can get lost in the shuffle. Vaping Flavor X for half a day and suddenly switching to Flavor “Y” without an extended period of “no” vaping is going to cloud the throat hit of flavor “Y”. Got it?

Complexity – There are basically two types of eLiquid flavors, single flavors or multiple flavors. Putting it as simply as I can, a single flavored eLiquid has no complexity value. Pineapple is pineapple; peach is peach, and so on. When flavors begin to be blended, i.e., “Pineapple + Coconut” or “Peaches + Cream” flavors become more complex. An eLiquid Artist is able to combine flavors in ways that create a better, or new, flavor. Depending on the complexity of the blend, that new flavor is either complex or highly complex.

Nuance – Nuance is very hard to score when the eLiquid vendor doesn’t explain what the flavor’s goal is. There are an unlimited number of chocolate complexities for instance, is the eLiquid Artist shooting for a dark Swiss chocolate with hazelnut overtones? How about a ‘Georgia Peach and Heavy Cream’ goal rather than ‘peaches and cream’? Nuance is the specialty of premium eLiquid Artists. Nuance doesn’t just happen, it is not by accident, and it can takes months to get it exactly right.

Lastly… There are many Vapers in the community that care little for complexity or nuance. Many look for a tobacco flavor that matches the experience of smoking analogs. There are others that have simple requirements; strawberry should taste like a strawberry, period.

There are vaping devices, like a ProVari, that can provide extremely accurate voltage on a very consistent basis, and there are devices that have no more sophistication then to push heat out the connector. Some vapers care very much about what device they want to use. The Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team take these devices very seriously. From the sequel review of Mt Baker Vapor onward the team has decided to ditch the use of anything under the level of a Variable Voltage APV.

And then there are eLiquid Artists who are geniuses when it comes to the art of combining flavors. Like the great chefs in the world who are able to combine ingredients in such marvelous ways, an eLiquid Artist is able to combine ingredients that propel their flavors onto a whole different leve

And then there are eLiquid vendors that buy the least expensive propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and flavor concentrates and, using a simple recipe app, type in a flavor and mix the recipe accordingly. The difference between an eLiquid created by an eLiquid Artist, and an eLiquid created by a simple craftsman, is startling.

Some people care very much about what they are inhaling and others do not. While the Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team considers themselves to be true eLiquid connoisseurs, they do not limit their vaping to only eLiquid Artists when it is for review purposes. That said you would not see a member of the team venture away from the Liquids created by the true Artists when they are vaping for pleasure.

The majority of Spinfuel readers “seem” to care about the same things we care about. For us, vaping is more than a way to satisfy a nicotine addiction, it is a way to experience amazing tastes, a way to bask in the exotic blends of the most complex combination of flavors, it is a way to discover a completely new experience that adds an enriched and powerful understanding of what it means to “taste”.

And Now…

Product Descriptions – Unfortunately Mt Baker Vapor does not offer their own “take” on the eLiquids they create, except for some of their “Signature” line. I think it’s unfortunate because you and I have no real idea what MBV is shooting for. The name of the flavor doesn’t tell you much about it. How are you, or the Spinfuel eLiquid Review Team, supposed to know how close MBV was able to come to the goal they set for a particular flavor, of even if they do set a goal for their flavors. So, the MBV flavors are scored on a more basic level.

Let’s Begin….

Pumpkin Cookie: Overall Score 4.50 Stars

Jason: If you ask me Pumpkin is an overlooked and underused flavor. MBV produced a very accurate pumpkin cookie eLiquid. Often times a pumpkin cookie eLiquid flavor would consist of a weak pumpkin flavor and a piecrust flavor, overlooking the ‘spice’ part altogether. It is the pumpkin “spice” that contains most of the flavor people enjoy. MBV did good.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: Little N: None

Julia: I loved the spiciness of this flavor. The pumpkin flavor could have been a bit stronger, but no real complaints. While you wouldn’t think it, Pumpkin Cookie would make an enjoyable all-day vape.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: Little N: None

Tom: Actually, Pumpkin Cookie was very good. Definitely not a flavor you could mistake, that’s for sure. Real pumpkin flavor, with emphasis on the spice, without being overly sweet, Pumpkin Cookie delivers. It was sweet, but not too sweet. Pumpkin is a flavor that should be experimented with more than it is because it is not only a flavor everybody knows; it’s also a deep flavor. There is no mistaking it.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: Little N: None

Keira: Pumpkin Cookie was a lot like the pumpkin spiced cookies you can get at the grocery store. I enjoyed the simple flavor. I agree that pumpkin should at least see its way into more blends. I wonder what a pumpkin spice tobacco would taste like? Pumpkin Cookie is an uncomplicated flavor that satisfies your cravings.

F: Very Good V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Jon: Pumpkin Cookie was one of the last flavors I vaped for this review. So I am feeling good about going out on a high note. Pumpkin Cookie was one of the stronger flavors though, but I liked that about it. Is it good enough for me to buy again? Man, with all the choices out there, even from MBV, I doubt it. I liked it enough, I’m even glad I got the chance to vape it, but it was also a little boring.

F: Good V: Good T: Good C: None N: None

Tidal Wave – 3.0 Stars – A Lemon Grass Mint with Honey Undertones

Jason: MBV is going to hate me for this, but for me this had a lot of the old “medicated cough drop” taste. Yes, there was lemon flavoring, and after a few minutes I could taste the slightest hint of honey, but that medicated taste just isn’t for me.

F: Too Medicated V: Very Good T: Sharp C: Some N: Tiny

Julia: Lemon is by far the flavor that gets most of the attention in this blend. But then MBV went and added some kind of menthol to it. Most of us here just don’t go for menthol so this might be an unfair way to talk about it. I would have preferred a lemon and honey flavor without the menthol.

F: Too Menthol V: Very Good T: Okay C: Some N: None

Tom: This was a throwback to a couple of years ago, when menthol eLiquids weren’t very good. I feel terrible about it because it is one of MBV’s “signature” flavors so there is that extra amount of pride that goes into its creation. But, I think by now most readers, and vendors, know we don’t cotton to menthol flavors very much so it’s to be expected. Right?

F: Lemon Menthol Medicated V: Good T: Good C: None N: None

Keira: “Oh my God!” Those was the first words I said out loud after vaping Tidal Wave. I’m not sure I get the whole Tidal Wave reference either. I enjoy some menthol’s, I won’t mention any names, but there are some that are quite good. And then there are some that really do have a medicated taste to them and unfortunately Tidal Wave is one of them.

F: Medicated V: Good T: Good C: Some N: None

Jon: I have come to the conclusion that we are missing something about Tidal Wave. This is a signature flavor; it’s a buck more for the 15ML bottle, so there must be a large audience for it. Perhaps among the menthol vapers this is one of the best. I’ll never know because like the rest of you I don’t appreciate menthol either.

F: Medicated V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Candy Bar 3.75 Stars

Jason: Do not switch to this Candy Bar if you were previously vaping any type of fruit or drink flavor. Just don’t. Candy Bar was the first flavor I did for this review and I had just been vaping another brand’s tropical fruit flavor. Yuck! Awful! On my first drag I pulled the Lambo away from my face so fast I looked like I had ingested poison or something. But 10 minutes later I’m enjoying the hell out of it. Candy Bar produces a sweet, definite candy bar flavor. Profound enjoyment ensued.

F: Very Good V: Good T: Okay C: Some N: None

Julia: A sweet, chocolaty vape with a real undertone of caramel candy. The result was something that tasted very much like a candy bar. But which candy bar did it taste like? Should I say? Well, better to have more information than less. Here it goes; SNICKERS!

F: Very Good V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Tom: I thought this would be too gimmicky for me. You know, too sweet, too chocolate-like, too much yuckiness. But, I actually enjoyed it. Not much else to say about it though. It is not something I would buy to add to my rotation.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Keira: Not my favorite flavor of the bunch, but close. Having said that however, I must be clear. Candy Bar is, for lack of a better way to put it, a “bowling alley” flavor when some others are “Fine Dining” flavors. I did not feel like I was vaping something special, or particularly delightful. But it was good. Like junk food.

F: Very Good V: Good T: Okay C: A Little N: None

Jon: If you are new to MBV or vaping eLiquids in other devices than prefilled cartomizers you might get a kick out of Candy Bar. Yep, it tastes like a candy bar, but a nondescript candy bar. A generic, Wal-Mart candy bar. Still, it wasn’t bad at all.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Vanilla Custard 4.0 Stars

Jason: I am truly sorry to have to say this, but Vanilla Custard is a modest flavor. I could taste some vanilla, not a lot, but there wasn’t any custard flavor to be found. This should have been much better than it was.

F: Weak V: Good T: Weak C: None N: None

Julia: I love a good vanilla, and I like a creamy custard, so imagine my disappointment when I vaped Vanilla Custard and came away without much custard. I had high hopes for this one, but alas, it was not to be. Although, it turned out to be a more-than-decent vanilla vape.

F: Okay V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Tom: Vanilla Custard is an okay vape if you are not looking to be bowled over with either flavor. I don’t know why MBV backed off the flavoring with this one, maybe it doesn’t sell well or maybe it’s a placeholder. I don’t know, but what I do know, or think I know, is that this is a flavor that isn’t cared for by its creator.

F: Weak V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Keira: I want to be swept off my feet when I vape, every time I vape. I know that is not possible when you review eLiquids for a living though. You’re going to run into mundane or downright terrible flavors once and a while, and sometimes you’re going to vape flavors that just fail to impress you. This is one of those. It doesn’t impress me. Good vanilla though.

F: Okay V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Jon: I spent too much time trying to think of the type of person who would order Vanilla Custard, fill up a tank, attached the tank to their APV and vape away. And thinking it was pure heaven too. Who would do that? If you are looking for a good vanilla flavor and want to stay within the MBV market there are plenty to be found. Type vanilla in the search box and look them all over. But since MBV doesn’t explain the flavors you’re going to have to rely on the names only. Or look here on Spinfuel to see if we’ve covered it before. Vanilla Custard is the flavor with potential, but just potential. It needs more work.

F: Okay V: Good T: Okay C: None N: None

Chocolate Frost – Chocolate Mint Milkshake – 4.75 Stars

Jason: Out of the ballpark homerun! I couldn’t believe how good this was, I really couldn’t. This is a smooth chocolate flavor with a touch of mint, all wrapped in a milkshake blanket. This deserves to be a Signature Flavor. Real complexity and an honest flavor. You have to at least try this.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Julia: This is a terrific and complex eLiquid that would appeal to every chocolate lover known. What I really enjoyed was how MBV seemed to make all 3 flavors dance in a way that had them all vying for attention but never overwhelming me. If I wanted to taste chocolate I could, if I wanted to savor the mint, I could, and if I wanted to bring out the milkshake flavor I could do that as well. One warning though, if you don’t like chocolate you will not like this.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Tom: Very impressive. I got to this one not a moment too soon. After a series of disappointing flavors I was ready for something to grab me. I found it with Chocolate Frost.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Keira: I know it’s very hard to squeeze in everything we want to say about these flavors, but I thought this might be a great exception. The complexity of this flavor is enormous, and by being enormous you can really play with the 3 major flavors a lot. Try vaping it at unusually high voltage, or with different devices and you’ll discover that you can find several different flavors wrapped up in this single, magical blend. Bravo!

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Jon: I wound up vaping Chocolate Frost after Cookies and Cream. Because of that I got a tiny bit upset with MBV, and I’ll tell you why. I thought Cookies and Cream was dreadful. I was honestly thinking that MBV got the labels mixed up or a bad batch had gotten out. I mean, come on, Cookies and Cream? MBV can pull off a flavor like that with their collective hands tied behind their backs. But they didn’t. And then comes Chocolate Frost, one of MBV’s top 10 flavors bar none. Where’s the disconnect? I just don’t get it. This is truly an eLiquid wonder. Try it.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

American Tobacco – 4.75 Stars

Jason: American Tobacco by MBV is one of the most confusing flavors to be produced by them. Many people, myself included, love it. Others hate it. Either way, let’s talk about it.

American Tobacco has an authentic ‘tobacco leaf’ flavor. Unlike trying to mimic the taste of an American Cigarette MBV goes after a portion of their audience looking for tobacco flavors, and they did that here. Don’t let the haters get to you. Buy a small bottle, let it steep another week, and then pop that baby open and vape it!

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Julia: Listening to everyone discussing American Tobacco made me think I was missing something. I immediately thought this was an RY4. But the bottom line is that I enjoyed vaping it. Would I buy a bottle for my collection. Probably not. MBV makes some wicked good flavors and this might be one of them, but there are better.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: Every Good N: Good

Tom: I am the resident Tobacco guy. I can tell you with absolute certainty that American Tobacco will be the weirdest, yet coolest, tobacco flavor you’ll try this year. Talk about complex, this one is so complex I’m beginning to think the eLiquid chefs at MBV were not sure of what they had, only what they had was really really good. Tobacco flavor? Absolutely. Is it any good? Better than good. Am I adding this one to my rotation. Yes.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Keira: What would happen if you took the best RY4 on the planet and mixed it with the best tobacco flavor on that planet? I’m not sure, but it wouldn’t be this, LOL.

Seriously though, American Tobacco has a nice complexity to it. As you inhale and the vapor begins to work its way around your taste buds you begin to taste a definite RY4-type flavor. But then the vapor makes its way to your lungs, takes a break for lunch, then it’s on the way out. As it’s leaving you begin to taste a very pleasant, very smooth and rewarding tobacco. Like if some tobacco farmer took some of the best of his or her crop and minced it up very fine and cooked it into a tobacco pie.

F: Good V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Excellent

Jon: This has to be one of the best tobacco blends I’ve had yet. So rich and so real, American Tobacco is in a class all its own. Totally unlike any eLiquid that tries to imitate the taste of analog cigarettes. What I would be concerned with if I were MBV is this; if people order this expecting it to be like an analog they are going to be very disappointed.

F: Very Good V: Good T: Okay C: Excellent N: Very Good

Cake – Yellow 4.75 Stars

Jason: As soon as I saw this flavor I wanted to vape it. I love the taste of “cake” that some vendors use in other flavors like Strawberry cupcake, Chocolate Cake, and so forth. Now eliminate all the bull crap and leave the cake. Brilliant idea and a wonderful execution. I’m sold!

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Simple N: Simple

Julia: Crazy good! Pure taste of yellow cake mix without the frivolous need of frosting. I remember tasting a cake and frosting eLiquid flavor several months ago and thinking, now if only they could remove the frosting. Well, they did the results are excellent! Simple but delicious.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Simple N: Simple

Tom: I wasn’t too sure about this one. Cake? Just “cake”? But the more I vaped it the better it was. Vaping cake. Simple.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Simple N: Simple

Keira: Excellent yellow cake flavor. Simplicity at its best.

F: Excellent V: F Good T: Okay C: Simple N: Simple

Jon: Because this is such a simple flavor I thought it could just be ignored and forgotten. No reason to really try and understand such a basic flavor that you either love or hate, right? Well, no. Yea it’s a simple flavor but it is also a great desert vape and very satisfying at that. I really liked it.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Okay C: Simple N: Simple

Caramel Candy: 3.0

Jason: I didn’t taste candy and I didn’t taste caramel. Or at least I think I didn’t. The problem is Caramel is a very difficult flavor to vape. This isn’t my first caramel flavored eLiquid and as far as I can remember none of them got the flavor down right. But, you what, it was still an okay flavor. I couldn’t give it an identifiable taste, but it wasn’t bad.

F: Okay V: Good T: Light C: None N: None

Julia: I have to agree with the others; Caramel Candy is a flavor I just couldn’t identify. What I did taste was so unlike anything I’ve tasted before. Not unpleasant, just not that good.

F: Okay V: Good T: Light C: None N: None

Tom: The flavor in this is very light, and I’m not so sure it tastes much like caramel either. Had it not been for the fact that this was mixed on the 24th of January I would have sworn it needed more time to steep.

F: Okay V: Good T: Light C: None N: None

Keira: Caramel Candy didn’t taste anything like I thought would, but nonetheless I enjoyed vaping it. Not much more to say about it really.

F: Good V: Good T: Light C: None N: None

Jon: I thought this was going to be a lot better than it was. I liked it okay, but not enough to really LIKE it, you know? I’m not sure if it’s the lack of a creamy caramel or what, but it wasn’t great, and I wanted great from this one.              F: Okay V: Good T: Light C: None N: None

Bananas Gone Nuts 4.75 Stars – “We have brought back the original Banana Nut Bread. This caramel colored mixture is going to blow your mind.” – MBV

Jason: What a mixed bag of flavors we have here. Some flavors were incredible and some were incredibly boring. None of them tasted awful except for the menthol/medicated ones, but the extreme range was sometimes confusing. Take “Bananas Gone Nuts”; it is flavors like this that show when the guys a MBV are inspired they can do wonders. This is a terrific flavor, full of different tastes and textures. I love it.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Julia: Yes, I like banana flavored eLiquids, so there was an advantage going in. But, as far as I’m concerned Bananas Gone Nuts stands on its own as a full flavored, fully wonderful flavor. Very complex, with a full taste of banana nut bread. I know my banana nut breads too so trust me this is for real.

F: Excellent V: Excellent T: Medium C: Very Good N: Good

Tom: Many eLiquid vendors offer banana nut bread but not every one can deliver. They either mix it with too much banana or too much in the bread flavors. The MBV version is an absolute delight to vape. It’s rare for me to think of any banana flavor as an all-day vape, but this one could be the all-day banana vape you’ve been waiting for.

F: Excellent V: Excellent T: Medium C: Very Good N: Good

Sweet Cream 3.75 Stars

Jason: You are probably going to think I’m crazy, but here’s the deal with Sweet Cream; it tasted fine, but it smells like “corn”, and I found that to be off-putting in a major way. I didn’t smell it when I vaped it, but when others did I nearly had to leave the room. No one wants to smell corn vapor, do they?

F: Very Good V: E: Good (smell) T: Medium C: Strange N: None

Julia: I’m sorry Jason, but I really don’t believe that Sweet Cream smells like corn. I believe you believe it and that’s all that counts. If your brain perceives the smell of corn then there it is. Anyway, Sweet Cream is a wonderful creamy flavor that was better than I thought it would be, totally enjoyable.

F: Excellent V: Excellent T: Medium C: Very Good N: Good

Tom: Cream flavors have always been a little on the strange side to me. The first few drags are fricking amazing. So rich, so fully flavored! Then it becomes way too rich for me. My stomach can’t take it after 15 minutes. But boy, those first few minutes are awesome!

F: Excellent V: Excellent T: Medium C: None N: None

Keira: A truly rich and creamy flavor that will grab you and keep you. But I can tell this is one that has to steep long enough or it won’t deliver much in the way of flavor. How do I know that? I cheated.

When these flavors were delivered I had to check them in and when I saw this one (and one other) I had to sample it. The name itself got me interested. So I siphoned off one milliliter and vaped it right then and there. Big disappointment. Skip ahead 3 weeks and I try it again and I am slammed against the wall with flavor! I will never cheat again.

F: Excellent V: Good T: Medium C: None N: None

Jon: “Sweet Cream are made of these…”, LOL, sorry, had to do it. Seriously though, I totally enjoyed this flavor. Very rich and creamy, and not in the way other flavors are creamy. This was like real cream, like heavy cream you make whipped cream with. Really good vapor and throat hit.

F: Excellent V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Twilight – Signature Brand “A sweet fruity blend that will put you in a calm relaxing place. “

Jason: Here we go again with another menthol type flavor. I don’t think its very fair that we needlessly bash menthol flavors when we all, except for one, hate menthol flavors. In addition to cool menthol Twilight also gets into the medicated cough drops area. So, yea.

F: Poor t V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Julia: The difference between Twilight and other menthol flavors is Twilight has fruitiness to it. That was unique. At first there was an almost perfume hint to it which I never get with other MBV flavors so that was a surprise. All in all, it’s not for me, but I understand why others would go for it.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Tom: I like the fruity flavor of this one, it is certainly different than other menthol-like flavors I’ve had. But, there was this medicated taste to it, which I really do not like. Still, for those that like menthol I think this could be a nice choice.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Cookies and Cream 3.5 Stars

Jason: All I could think about when I was vaping Cookies and Cream was “Where was the cream flavor from the eLiquid “Sweet Cream”? It wasn’t there.        F: Okay V: Good T: Good C: None N: None

Julia: Cookies and Cream was, I think, about the 8th or 9th flavor in this series for me. I was beginning to think that maybe we had started the review period a little early. How else could you explain some of the blends that lacked flavor? But then I would vape something that really impressed me and I would change my mind. Cookies and Cream didn’t do a whole lot for me. Not a lot of flavor, certainly not enough flavor, and that’s really all I can say about it.

F: Weak V: Good T: Okay C: None N: Good

Tom: Not my cup of tea so keep that in mind. Cookies and Cream did not wow me with the taste of cookies or cream. I would have at least expected the cream flavor to shine through, but it didn’t. I can’t quite figure out why the flavor was lacking, but it was. But you know, I enjoyed it regardless. I found that to be case more than once too. The flavor wasn’t what was being described, but it was still a good vape. Go figure.

F: Medium V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Keira: I was expecting Oreos and Milk to be honest. When I found out it wasn’t, from the first vape on, I had to adjust my thinking. For me the problem was this generic title, Cookies and Cream. What cookie? Give me a point of reference. In any case, as an untitled vape it was pretty darn good.

F: Good V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Jon: Hearing Keira talk about what she expected to taste and what she did taste struck a cord with me as well. At least I want to know what cookie it is I’m supposed t taste. Left to my own imagination what I did taste was pretty good, kind of dark tasting, maybe a hint of cookie-ness, but maybe not.

Brown Sugar: 3.0 Stars

Jason: I have no frame of reference for this flavor so I have to wing it. Brown Sugar is a taste I’ve never had by itself. So I have to describe this flavor as being a dark sweet vape. I really enjoyed it though, but my brain kept telling me to figure it out.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Julia: What does brown sugar taste like? I have no idea. Brown Sugar by MBV is a good, deeply sweet vape that I found to be very appealing, very satisfying, and yet simple. Sometimes simple is good. Brown Sugar is…good.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Tom: People will probably think I wouldn’t like this because it’s a sweet, very sweet, flavor. But, I happen to like it quite a bit. We all used the word “dark” when we met, and that’s exactly right. Dark. Sweet. And damn good tasting.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Keira: A very simple, very sweet, very nice flavor. Brown Sugar is one flavor I think I would enjoy just about any time. It doesn’t make you think, it doesn’t make you work for it. It’s just there in a dark sweet vape. Count me in.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Jon: Wow, this is remarkable. I agree that it is a simple flavor. Nothing fancy about Brown Sugar, but it is agreeable. Very sweet without being messy tasting, I enjoyed it a lot. A whole lot more than I ever thought possible.

F: Strong V: Excellent T: Good C: None N: Good

Vanilla Tobacco – 3.5 Stars

Jason: I think this bottle was mislabeled. Instead of vanilla I taste a very light fruitiness to it. Overall this is a light flavored vape. Not sure how I feel about it really.

F: Weak V: Good T: Okay C: None N: Good

Julia: I can’t say too much about Vanilla Tobacco other than it either takes an extra long time to steep or it’s just a small flavored blend.

F: Weak V: Okay T: Weak C: None N: Good

Tom: I am used to vaping some very strong flavors, Vanilla Tobacco is not one of them. I would really love to hear from readers that have tried this one. I don’t taste much of anything.

F: Weak V: Okay T: Weak C: None N: Good

Keira: I agree with everyone else. There isn’t much to go on. I would liked to put this one aside for a couple more weeks to see if this is a steeping problem.

F: Weak V: Okay T: Weak C: None N: Good

Jon: Vanilla Tobacco? Really? Could have fooled me. I don’t taste much of anything.

Mudslide 4.75 Stars

Jason: Mudslide, for those of you that have never had an eLiquid called Mudslide it is a chocolate and coffee blend. It is a complex blend that must be a careful mix of the two flavors. Thankfully, the MBV version is extremely good. I would add this to my rotation easily. In fact, I’m going to.

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Julia: A really nice chocolate/coffee blend that works. Sweet, rich, and satisfying, Mudslide is a flavor I could get into vaping on a regular basis. Nice job!

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Tom: I am impressed with Mudslide. I certainly didn’t expect to like since I can’t stand the drink. But this is a very good vape, and it hits the spot for deep, sweet, and smooth chocolate and coffee. Nicely done there MBV!

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Keira: When chocolate is done right it’s awesome. When coffee is done right it is very awesome. When you can combine the two just right it is magical. Mudslide by MBV is…magical.

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Jon: Easily my favorite flavor from this selection. Deep chocolate layers, a coffee blend that tastes just right, mudslide is an excellent flavor. I will add this to my rotation.

Get Razzled – 4.75 Stars

Jason – Get Razzled is supposed to be a raspberry milkshake flavor. You know what? It is. And it’s a damn good one too. I love the raspberry in this blend, not too strong and not too weak… just enough. I don’t know how MBV did it but the taste of a milkshake is here as well. A wonderful, flavorful blend.

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Julia: This is MY favorite flavor from this MBV selection and I am surprised to hear myself say that. I’m not a big raspberry fan; the fruit just doesn’t ring my bell if you know what I mean. But this? This is excellent. Just enough raspberries and just enough of a milkshake flavor.

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Tom: Raspberry Milkshake huh? I don’t think I’ve every truly enjoyed a raspberry flavor eLiquid until now. I think the reason is that this is sweeter than a normal raspberry flavor so it makes the whole blend richer, thicker than a fruit blend. Nice idea to throw a milkshake flavor into the mix.

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Keira: How can you not love this blend of sweet raspberry and creamy milkshake? Easily a flavor that I am going to add to my regular vaping schedule. Now I’m interested in trying other vendors’ versions of this. As far as I know, I’ve never had a raspberry milkshake blend before. Marvelous!

F: Excellent V: Very Good T: Good C: Good N: Good

Jon: A totally right blend of two great flavors. When MBV gets it just right they get it just right. Sweet, creamy, and full of flavor, Get Razzled has to be one of the best flavors MBV has created. If you like raspberry of any kind you will really like this one.

Final Words….

Mt Baker Vapor has an excellent track record and that track record still stands after today’s review. Yes, there were a few misses, some more drastic than others. But, overall, this eLiquid company shows that when you have the talent you become a fan favorite for all the right reasons.

Mt Baker Vapor doesn’t ship out with expensive boxes; their bottles are simple plastic with printed labels. They are not a fancy company. But they are a solid company producing an excellent variety of flavors at prices that continue to go unmatched.

Professional Facilities

As John Manzione indicated in his article “Do you know where your eLiquids are made?”, we are doing everything we can to make sure that the eJuice you buy from people we recommend is produced in safe and clean facilities with a minimum chance of contamination. Happily, we can report that Mt Baker Vapor facilities are among the best there is. Below is a slideshow of photos taken at the Mt Baker Vapor HQ. And, we just heard that they are moving into a larger, even more state of the art facility very soon!

With more than 200 flavors we are hopeful that we can bring you more reviews in 2013 and beyond. This marks our review of about 40 flavors, or less than 25% of what they offer. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
